congrats on getting that card!

And for the bruises, it is a good idea to up armor the spots upon which you are getting bruised. Once or twice is fine, that means block better. Repeatedly, it can teach you to flinch, which can be a hard habit to break, even when you know you are doing it.

You need to trust your armor.

I remember the first time I suited up in 86....that was similar to my lead leg the day after. Hamburger!

I was told by a fella named "Sven the Wellscarred" that if I came back I really wanted to play the game. Here I am 23 years later with more old injuries than you can shake a stick at..still coming back. Not as much any more but still there.

I hope you have a long fighting life ahead of you..........ENJOY!!!!!! :)

Congrats on your authorization (and the lovely purply badge!)
Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but we rather have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit. -Aristotle

Adeliz did a great job with her authorization! She stayed in close and kept her technique solid, including throwing the shots she had been a little rocky on, all quite nicely. Her power was spot on. She looked great. The three knights running the authorization kept saying "we wish they all would be like this"...

Back in the "old days" we couldn't get "field cred" unless a limb actually came off during the authorization.

:P

Congrats on the authorization! Much fun to be had!

We just had our new dog Doji authorize at AEthelmarc War Practice. bout 3 minutes in, he took a shot in the "region" that broke his cup. Kept going and got his card. cherish that bruise. you'll always remember the first time your leg looked like hamburger after you strip off the armour. keep a picture of it in your armour bag to remind you to BLOCK MORE OFTEN.

I had an auth bout just like that! Cept I could clearly see the line between the electrical tape marking the "edge" and the duct tape below it in the middle of the bruise.

This topic made me think about inlaying some thin rubber cord on the sweet spot of a sword and have it read "GOOD".

One of my squire brothers carved his name in reverse in a rubber ax head. It worked surprisingly well, according to the legend.
