Switching hands while injured

At Pennsic, I crushed the distal phalanx of my right hand ring finger. While its healing, I'm thinking about switching to fighting left handed. Any advice for making the switch? I've been told one of the hardest parts will be adapting footwork, but I'm looking forward to having a chance to work with some fresher clay. I'm fighting quite a few bad habits with my right hand at the moment, habits I hopefully don't have as ingrained in my left hand.

I switched when I was fencing. It wasn't too hard. I can stab just fine with my left, I can't swing worth a damn though.

Brush your teeth off-hand to start.
Play catch off-hand.
Lots of pell work.

I'm left handed, but right eye dominant, so I do most sports right handed, but I do all my fine motor control, eating, writing, brushing teeth, etc. left handed.
