Medieval Living history demo Oct 3,4, Fishers, IN

Post by dyderich »

Greetings all,

I am writing to you today to request your assistance. The barony of Sternfeld is contracted every year to be living history for the Fishers renfair. They pay us to be not SCA but living history. Fighters get special requirements due to safety. I am contacting all of you because members of this forum tend to have great looking fighting harnesses. It doesn't matter the time period as long as it looks good. We play off the vast array of time periods as combatants coming as their favorite heroes from history. Basic standards, think crown tourney. Nothing mundane showing except duct tape on weapons.

The dates are Oct 3,4. We don't require both days, although it would be great if you could. If you do participate we offer to feed you lunch and diner both days, crash space if you require, and of course free admission to the fair. It pretty much is a two day fighter practice where you get fed and get to talk to a lot of people.

People who have done it before and can tell you what great fun it is. You get to hang out in a period encampment, fight, and get fed. As a bonus, if you wish, the barony of Sternfeld will give your home group a check for your share of assisting in the fair. Participants earn $40/day, so if you help both days you earn $80 for your home group. Please note that we can't right a check to you it has to be to another Not-for-profit organization.

If you are interested in helping out please let me know, so I can get you on the access list and make arrangements to get your fighting harness vetted if I don't know you.

In Service,

The fighting has been amazing each year. The audiences are great. This year Sir Crispin is organizing the fighters as a 100 Years War army camp waiting to get paid. Gaming, with no money 8) and other 'idle camp' things.

We're also going to try to teach audience militia volunteers some basic pike drill.

I've gone a couple of years now, as a spectator. It is usually a very large part of the fair, and some excellent work by all who participate.

But this is the same weekend as Coronation and the 40yr Midrealm celebration, so I will be missing it. Bist of luch to all who go.

yes, 40-yea/Coronation is really putting a dent in our recruitment efforts. Although you don't have to do both days. Go to 40-year on Saturday, come participate with us on Sunday!
