Training Links

Post by DeCalmont »

First, I want to thank Gest for coming up with this idea and providing all the initial links.

Second, I invite everyone to post any links they want to concerning Medieval Combat Training. This isn't limited to the SCA, if you have some links post them. Please clarify if it is SCA or WMA or whatever. Once you post your links and I get time to do it, I will then transfer them over to the first post and delete your post. I'm going to do this in order to keep this limited and easy to look over.

Third, if you see something that shouldn't be posted here please let me know and I will remove it.

Sir Gaston, in another thread, it was mentioned about Duke Brannos& others doing warm up exercises before fighter practice, would this be a good subject for one of your Res Ducis videos?

Notice stretching is not the first thing. You should always do some warmup before stretching. There are more stretches but the infraspinatus one is probably the most important. We only cover upper body because every kind of fitness class already covers the lower body..

Sir Gaston,
I really enjoyed your videos. It's fun to see how different parts of the country train and fight. The quality of the vids is very good, as is your narration. I looked through your youtube channel as well. Could you do more narration and fight analysis on some of the other vids , like the first few from Baldars back yard? Those were most informative!
Do you have any idea when the revised House Asgard figting manual will be available?

Thanks!

Also,
Does anyone know where I could see footage of Duke Erin (From the Duke University links in this thread), fighting? A youtube search on Duke Erin brings up nothing.

Thanks!

Sorry, I didn't check the thread for quite a while...

Duke Erin/Aaron (depends on year) unfortunately became inactive long before the days of youtube, that TDU was a rare sighting. Baldar and I visited his dojo a few months ago anf fought him and a few of his students but the video belongs to someone else and I'm not sure they want to post.

There might be some old VHS lying around somewhere that someone could transfer.

I'm going to try and get some more vids up, no ETA on the written manual as I haven't worked on it in quite some time.

Hi.
One of my squires maintain a page that collects videos shot here in Nordmark, Drachenwald.
There are a bunch of short clips from different fighters in different styles.
Quite good if I may say so (Trying to be humble since I'm a couple of them  )

Hi guys,

Sorry for the delay in getting these links over here. My 2nd son was born a couple of weeks early so I've been a little distracted...

This is a class on Italian Rapier Theory that I gave at King's College in Ansteorra (Texas) last summer. The class incorporates the techniques and theories of Capoferro, Giganti, and Fabris. The class was 90 minutes long, but sadly the camera gave up the ghost for some reason only 30 minutes in.

I welcome comments and suggestions. My cadet, Lord Rene (my assistant in the video), is giving a variation on this class at Academy of the Rapier in August in Dallas.

Part 2 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9SaeRp0 ... re=related
Part 3 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofAMFH1J ... re=related

Thanks,

Hi all.
Schola Saint George has been running training in the SF Bay Area in Fiore dei Liberi's 14th-15th century Arte D'Armizare (art of armed fighting) (longsword, dagger, spear and grappling) for over 10 years now. You can find our SF meet up info here:

and

We train every Sunday afternoon in Cuesta Park, Mountain View CA from 2pm to 4pm.
New students always welcome. Safety a priority.

Here's one of a series of videos taken from a backyard seminar I did in Albequerque (sp) a few weeks ago. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRU15rdEfpY&list=UL This particular segment is redirecting shots as they come through the balance point. Other segments are stance and balance, footwork, moulinets, and elbow-leverage shot re-direction. I hope they are usefull to some.
