To all the non-SCA jousters out there...

who are on the Archive.

Thanks.

It's pretty often that the SCA gets bashed when it does something new as not going far enough. It's just a fact that the SCA is trying to be as inclusive as possible, and that often means taking baby steps. (Or it could be that organizationally, the SCA is scared of new things.)

I think it was Rod Walker (and if it wasn't don't correct me, my version sounds better :D ) who piped up when the SCA got foam jousting and said that it was great that the SCA would do it at all, and it ought to be encouraged. And the conversation got useful from that point, because the potential negative comments had already been headed off.

The same thing is happening in the thread on balsa jousting.

Again, thanks to all you non-SCA jousters for supporting this.

Then again, I suppose you have to act a little bit like an adult to be a good rider anyway. Me, I'd love to joust, but it would take a significant investment. Maybe if Maren wants to learn to ride.

(And it doesn't mean I don't appreciate Leo, et al. who are SCA jousters, too.)
