What the???

Post by Camlan »

I recently bought a Playstation 2 and I just finished my 1st game for it called Onimusha, its kinda like Resident Evil set in medieval Japan. Well anyways in the final CG movie the main charecter does this thing with his sword, kinda like drawing a circular line in the dirt, I have also noticed in the beginning of the movie Blade, Wesley Snipes does the same thing...what is with that?...is that like a way of saying "I dare you to cross this line" ?

Uhm, someone who's never fought with a sword thought it looked cool and intimidating is my guess.

I bleave it is a formal challange but I could be wrong

It could also have some thing to do with the spanish style of fence?

it might also be symbolic of the sumo ring or something simmar.

Well in my Martial Arts class, my Insructor will sometimes do that in order to judge range if fighting more than one opponent with a long weapon such as a spear or staff.

I'm with Losthelm with this one
but i think my be Japanese their big on style and the completion of the technique.
A lot of the Japanese fighting arts finish a lot of their Carter with ( not being nasty ) what can only be called a pose. (once again not being nasty) most of these fighting form concentrate on the look of the moves more than the more effective way to to use the technique (not to say they couldn’t kill me with it ) . A lot of the time if you watch a fighter of such a form that knows that this combo \ attack is going to win \ kill then you’ll find that sub-concisely they well finish this combo \ attack as the Carter in they way it is supposed to be in training.

But I could just talking out my arse!
