Knowne World Squires Tourney at Gulf Wars

Yet again I have the Honor of hosting a Knowne World Squires Tourney at Gulf Wars this year. It is currently listed as being held Friday the 19th from 2-4pm. The Field Battles are scheduled from 12-2 so the Squires Tourney will begin a short time after that in front of the Fort in its usual space so you will not have to travel far.

The Tourney is open to all fighters in fealty to a Knight or Master of Arms of the Society. Squires are challenged to come and do battle in an Atlantian Speed Tourney format until a victor shows him or herself from the assembled fighters. It will be a Double Elimination tourney so there will be plenty of fighting. I encourage pick ups after you are out of the lists as these events are GREAT opportunities to fight people and styles completely foreign to how you fight back home.

All Knights and Masters of Arms present at Gulf Wars are invited to come to the tourney and to sign the Scroll that is being prepared for the winner of the tourney. Even if you do not have a student competing in the Tourney, please add your name to the scroll as a witness to the combat done that day.

If you are able to do so I would appreciate it if some of you good gentles could spread the word of this to the different Kingdom fighter and Chivalry email lists.

Please let me know if you have ANY questions about the Tourney. Looking forward to seeing you all in a few weeks!!

Does your knight need to be present or may another knight from your household sign you in?

The Tourney is limited to just those men and women that have taken the Red belt to signify they are a Squire in service and fealty to a member of the Chivalry.

Man-at-arms means quite a few different things as you travel from Kingdom to Kingdom and even Knight to Knight.

This is the biggest confusion in this tourney at both Pennsic and Gulf Wars. Thank you for asking so that I could answer the question now in advance.

NO ONE HAS TO SIGN IN THE SQUIRES!

No knight has to be there to sign you in for a squire to be able to compete in the tourney. The Chivalry at the event are asked to attend and witness the combat that day and to sign the scroll that is presented to the winner. If your Knight is AT the event then he or she SHOULD be there to witness you, their Squire, do battle.

I hope that answers the question for you and others. I look forward to seeing you at the tourney.

Can anyone let me know if they have forwarded this announcement to other Kingdoms elists? I usually get WAY more questions about this tourney than I have gotten this year. If so, which lists?

Thank you.

I'm afraid I'll not be able to fight in this wonderful tourney, as my Knight has not learned to write and cannot sign me in.

A wonderful tourney to watch. 60 Squires in combat. Various forms and styles, arms and armor. The final four combatants were from 4 different Kingdoms. East vs Northshield in the finals(both of BloodGuard). Aethelmearc and Midrealm had fighters in the semis. Final Four ranged in age from 24 to 51!!!!

(incorrect names and spellings are TOTALLY my fault and I apologize.)

Winner (East) Queens champion, cannot remember name sorry, Squired to Duke Andreas. Someone please supply that good gentles name for me.
His Opponent Lord Alexander (Northshield) Squired to Duke Lars.
Other 2 Semi finals combatants were Bodun (Aethelmearc) fighting 2 sword and Johan of the Midrealm fighting like a true Dragon in his 51st year!!
5th Place was an Atlantian, Ld Adalric FitzKarl, Squire to Sir Roussel of Clan Ebonwoulfe.

Top 5 finishers from 5 different Kingdoms and ALL 5 could have taken that prize that day as could many others who fought that day. I look forward to watching the Tourney in August on the Fields of Pennsic and yet again next year at Gulf Wars 20.

As always, it was a pleasure to be there to watch such a display of speed and skill, prowess and power, and not to be forgotten, heart. Well done to all the combatants.

Sincerely,

Hopefully, someone had a vid camera handy and can get some pics and vids of the semis and finals.

So sorry I missed this; it was one of the things I was looking forward to the most. As it is, I had to leave a day early to get my Knight home to his sick little girl.

Thank you Roger for the correction. I fear I misidentified him as the Queens Champion which I believe is the position that you hold for Her Majesty East.

Congrats on your deep entry into the Squires Tourney as well as the Ladies of the Rose tourney. You fought well and honorably and I look forward to seeing you compete in the Pennsic Squires Tourney in a few short months.
