Help finding a quote in the west's history

Post by Violen »

I want to start another thread, and before i reveal exactly what it is about,

I need the quote of the first tournament where the fighters called the blows they took instead of judges. I just cant find it and i think ive skipped it many at ime.

Can someone link me the url?

Please no discussion here, as id like to properly set up a different thread (and then have this one deleted.)

This what you are looking for? I haven't read through it but its a pretty good resource for the very early days of the game.

I think it happened after that.

My recollection of their recollection was that two fighters had made it to the final in the tourney, and when they fought they ignored the lady judge's calls of who won, and fought for about 10 minutes untill one declared himself bested by the other.

Does that help y'all out there?

first tourney

I hadn't heard that version. The results of the first tourney were contested, but after the fact. The description, later than the one earlier linked to, is here:

No, I recall this story, as well. It was early on, and there was a great deal of dissatisfaction with the concept of being judged.

[Crown lists were held to determine the next king.] “This tournament was the first in which ratan was used and there were still a few bugs in the system. There were also a few bugs in the system of judging which meant that neither Fulk nor Richard cared to be judged, would pay no attention to the judges, and fought on for what seemed hours until Fulk finally conceded he was hit and Richard won.â€
