format for Gleanne Abhaine Coronet

Post by freiman the minstrel »

Just found out, I may be behind the times.

The format for the Upcoming Coronet List for the Principality of Gleanne Abhaine is Double Elim, wounds retained, rotating weapons style.

Wounds retained? I bet they won't do that for crown more than once...

I'd hate that format for a serious tourney. I want my opponents best fight. I don't want to beat one of our best Dukes for Crown and hear "Yeah, but he didn't have his shield arm" for the rest of my life.

It would be much better (read as the best most well rounded fighter wins) if they went rotating weapons, keep your wounds, hold the field, fighter with most wins gets the prize.

YMMV of course.

Its not there yet, but making every use the same type of weapon is a real step towards using matched weapons. Perhaps wounds retained will help folks see how silly that element of our combat is.
