Are you this happy every time you fight?

That's my son Nicholas, age 3.5 years. He's five now and still quite enjoys heavy fighting. I've got eleven years to make him a good suit of armour...with his help.
I'm the fellow kneeling in blue to the far right if you scroll over all the way.
Thanks for looking at the photo. Whenever I think about giving this sport up, I think of Nicholas and his first "fight". Dimitri is 6'9" and nearly 400 pounds. Nicholas weighed 40 pounds and was swinging a pool noddle that I duct taped a toothbrush into the end as a handle. Dimitri should have won an Oscar for his performance that day...his lines of "oh!...ouch!!...missed me!!" were great. Due to the difference in heights, Dimitri was not only on his knees, he had to lean forward and bend his head down.
This is the SCA at it's finest. This is the reason I enjoy it, and I will participate in any "bash-a-knight" events I can (as the "knight"). Pure fun.
I smile like that too. I do exactly the same thing inside my helm. That's the reason I wear a Great Helm so nobody notices that I'm really a just a big kid.

I did a "whack a knight" thing at a demo for the American Cancer Society.
I was trim, and I practiced on a regular basis. I was in full armor.
The Quarter finals (I think) for the little league world series was in our town that weekend.
Those Twelve and thirteen years olds can hit a lot harder than you might expect.

I can't help but smile when I fight, I love it that much. My son Jonathan, age 2, has a couple of boffers, and he and I fight with them all the time. He loves it. He can really hit with those things too! I take him to fighter practice with me and he wants to get in the middle of it. He loves to play with armour. When I get the leather or metal I'm going to make him his own suit.

Ahhh....the joy of fighting. I have a friend that I fight with that always fights with a big ass smile on his. Fighting him when you are in a bad mood is always a good attitude adjustment. It's all about the violence
We did a whack-a-knight thing at Special Olympics a while back, it was a lot of fun, except for the kid that broke one of the boffers of to a sharp PVC point then tried to stab me with the pointy end. But I really enjoy doing that kind of thing.

I'll bet you can't say that with my sword in your mouth.
