Anyone in Midrealm want to try equestrian?

For those of us who wish to talk about the many styles and facets of recreating Medieval armed combat.

Anyone in Midrealm want to try equestrian?

Post by Leo Medii »

Midrealm Siege of Talonval July 9-11th in Michigan/Pentemere.

I will be there with two of my warhorses, and if people want to get pictures of themselves in armor on horse, try some simple gaming (ar more if you have riding experience) or just try.

If you are interested, you can reach me at william.edwards@warhorsefarms.com and I would be more than willing to help folks try equestrian.

This will also be a place where the experimental balsa jousting will be taking place in the Middle.

I am hoping we can make it. I think my son would LOVE to have a picture on one of your steeds (the girl however might be a different story ;) )

Crap.

Michigan is relatively within reach of me, and I'd love to see you joust in person if nothing else, but I'll be at Chivalric Weekend in northern NY then.

If Laurenz and I can be there, we'll wander on by :-) I love SoT, but we may have a scheduling conflict that day (boo, hiss!)

that's a truely generous offer. I would never nave let a stranger that I have never seen ride hop on one of my horses at an event. yer a helluva niceguy, Kieran.

Equestrian Symposium

Post by Bridei »

Leo, et al.

Will there be any jousting at the Midrealm Equestrian Symposium?
I am planning on making the trek there from Wisconsin!

Were I not otherwise engaged, I would love to come ride. I have not done so since last year (and wondering if my equestrian auth is still a valid one)...

You are a gentleman, Sir.
Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but we rather have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit. -Aristotle

Countess Bridei,

Raynold will be teaching a class on the equipment and training for jousting. We will be doing a jousting demo at 11 Am on Saturday, but it will probably be limited to foam tips unless my balsa tips arrive earlier than expected.

There will probably be time for you to do some passes as well.

Take good care of her, Chris, she is a good friend of mine!

Wish I could be there, but I am getting back into the game, so you're likely to see me more often.

I'm considering taking the wolf off my shield and painting the number 23 on it instead :D

Lloyd,

Maybe you should go with number 4 on your shield... and you can choose green or purple as the color scheme... :)

Good to see you getting back in the game though and hopefully will get to catch you and cross lances at Siege if it works out for you.

Countess Bridei / Lory Aitke,

We welcome you to the event and hopefully we will get some jousting in with a demo. At current time it depends on if balsa arrives in time or not, but we will do some foam at the very least. More then anything though, I am going over what is involved both from an equipment stand point and training your horse as well being prepared yourself. I will be focused more on the balsa but will happily speak to the foam jousting as well.

Lloyd,

We will extend our most southern hospitality to her, as we always would, but especially so knowing she is your friend. If she wants to give it try I can loan her a horse too.

I am sorry to report that I have to withdraw my offer. I have been hitching horse transportation with a fellow jouster who is no longer interested in SCA equestrain. I sold my old trailer because it would not houl drafts, and have been unable to get another (that and having a full list and games at your house makes it easy to put it on the back burner). I've looked at two trailers this week, but alas, I can't swing getting one without ditching on Pennsic and shorting the rest of the year.

I still have an open offer for those in the area of Pentemere, or anyone in the Middle to come and try equestrain, or try training for the joust and games, it just won't be able to be at an event unless I score with the luck gods on a horse trailer.

My apologies, things have not gone well this past two weeks, and this was something I was really looking forward to.

That's a bummer :(

It looks like we won't be there either. The boss bit off a little more project-wise over our summer shut down, and I won't know until tomorrow whether I have to work Satyrday or not.....
