IJA Tournament/Saline Celtic Festival Joust

Post by Leo Medii »

Got to participate in a IJAscored joust over the weekend. The three finalists were all within two points of each other after three rounds of glorious passes.

I love jousting. Besides having my 1500 lbs warhorse and partner take one scary fall and sitting on me, we did excellent and was only three points from the winner, Dale Ginow from Canada. He and I almost had three coronel to coronel strikes out of our nine passes. It was a AWESOME weekend. Sharing life with such awesome folks makes me wish I had the armor to travel to Europe and to Jeff's Tournament of the Pheonix as well to tilt with all men of honour.

Just a couple of pics from the weekend-

One of the coolest parts was Dale brought his son up to do games. North had never been in armor before, so I asked him if he wanted do do some "foam" jousting at the end of the tournament. He was estatic, and we suited him up in my wifes armor and he and Steve Shindler (my team mate for our lance) did five passes with SCA style foam lances. North was fantastic, and did great for being 13. He never thought he would be doing his first armored passes when he came down from Canada.

Leo, pass on to Steve and Tim how sorry I am to have missed it. I had hoped to have my kit back together in time, but it was not to be.

That being said, I am back in the game as soon as my kit is complete and the horse I am training is ready to go.

Sorry I missed getting to see North do some passes (but not as sorry as my daughter, Sarah, I bet  )
Cheers,
