"The Shire of Earngyld is pleased to host the Oerthan Winter Coronet of A.S. XLV on January 15th and 16th, Gregorian 2011."
That's right, I am inviting you all to the Coronet Tournament for
Alaska in the
Winter. There will be an open Roses Tournament after wards. The last time that a Coronet was held in Earngyld/Juneau seems to have 1986. They had to use shields to shovel show so that they could get out of the lodge.
More information will be posted at:

Since my usual strategy of talking up the skiing, skating, glaciers, boating, fishing, flying, shopping, eating, museums, music, etc..... Have not been working hardly at all I am trying the opposite.

So any chance of you making it, Your Excellency? Juneau is very different than what you have seen in Anchorage or even Fairbanks.

Nothing is impossible, but I wouldn't count on it. Then again, I wasn't planning on three trips up there in the past four months, either.
Tell you what: If I win October Crown, I will definitely be there.

I attended a summer coronet around '93 (loved it!), though I wouldn't be surprised if there hasn't been one since (it's a long way 'round the horn for those who can't afford to fly)... AoC

I was just stepping down in Drachenwald and there is virtually no one left here form that period but it would line up with something Vis. Alicianne said. OK, only 17-ish years.
Besides flying there is also the ferry system (there are no road into Juneau).
http://www.dot.state.ak.us/amhs/index.shtml Our ferries are a wonderful way to travel. Sort of a proletariat cruise line. Very laid back and good food served in generous quantities. You can drive and pick it up in Bellingham, WA or, after an adventurous drive in January, Prince Rupert, BC and Haines, AK.
If you are tough you won't need a sissy stateroom!
Alaska Airlines allows in state traveler to take THREE free bags up to 50# each. Sorry but folks coming from the L. 48 pay.
"Tell you what: If I win October Crown, I will definitely be there. Smile" If you are trying to drum up a cheering section it is working. Best of luck!

Unfortunately the reporter had to file this before the tournament was over and it has the usual well meaning misinformation.
