You should see him in the flesh when they (he and the child, and retainers) are on their way to the field.. people literally stop and stare.

Like they walked right out of a woodcut.

I know, he is about an hour and a half from me ;)

He has inspired a great many to improve their kits.

Me on the right, Viscount Sir Eric of Chester on the left. Last to hold the Norman Honor & the bridge.

Brothers in arms til the end.

Pykephotography refuses to load, even with scripts enabled. Get background, get that this is pic 3 of 11, but no pic.

They're even drinking (mostly period) German wine, since that looks like a bottle of Schmitt-Soehne Riesling there on the table. Okay, the company and the bottle aren't period, but riesling is. :D

Still my most treasured moment in the SCA. Squired at GW 18.

My favorite SCA related pic to date. My wife took this at the last fight practice I made it to. My 2 1/2 year old son put a hurtin' on me. But he has darn good form with that dagger, doesn't he?

A great picture: you have some _Excellent_ opponents, sir!

I recognize HE Baron Sir Rashid and HE Count Sir Aengus.
(I have no idea who the gent with the Shadow Legion round is, but I probably should know him.)

Respectfully in service,
Thomas

I don't see Sir Aengus or Sir Rashid in the photo, on the left (orange) is Viscount Sir Callien and on the right (yellow) is Viscount Sir Michael of the Mace.

I'm not sure if Sir Rashid was in there or not. From left to right is Count Wernherus Rudemann (Fenris) behind Viscount Caillin Mac Leoid (in orange), Sir James the Holy in the background, Viscount Michael of the Mace in yellow. I can't tell who is directly in front of us and I'm not sure the name of the Shadow Legion warrior.

Worthy opponents all.

Wow,
I've been gone only four years and already I cannot recognize people.
Perhaps I need a bigger monitor.

Embarrassed,

I think that's Gunder.

I dunno... if I saw that particular lineup of folks coming for me I might just roll up in the fetal position. :)

This is my favorite:

Image

It was taken at the Coronation of Nigel and Adrielle in Ealdomere last fall. My thanks to the photographer Eirik Andersen.

As for the one Master Magnus posted, yes that story is best told around a campfire. But it does make a great story and I am happy to share :)

And for the one His Excellency Gregoire de Lyon posted of my Lady and I. A friend took that one just after I had passed the Couter of Chivalry to Gregoire. My friend was worried it was too personal a moment, but I am glad he took it. Its a reminder of why I play this game.

Oh and your lady is a fox. id love to swing out and thank you guys properly for the cool beverages on my walk back to the valley and her letting me use the phone to let you know bout the situation with Pa.

For a suitable price, that can be arranged. I took that photo. :)

I need to find it, and of course I'm drowning in current Pennsic photos (noticed this on a break), but I'm sure I can dig it up... eventually. I even have a couple that either precede it or come after it, as I recall.

So please PM me, and give me any details you can (I think that was last Pennsic, but it may have been the one before - a battle may help too, though I file my pictures by date), and I'll get back to you. Oh, and send me your email addrress.

Ursus

P.S. I was kidding about the price. I also find that photo inspiring, and I'm just glad I was lucky enough to capture the Prince's brave stand.

I should have known, Ursus!

Thank you for... once again... capturing so well the essence of what we do.

Ursus,
I can not help you with which battle it was, but I can comfirm that it was taken last year. The Prince is facing King Alden of the West, whose last riegned was last year during Pennsic.

I can tell you that it is Count Hrafn Olafson throwing the spear shot in the foreground.

It was from Friday's friendship battle photos. Pages 12 and 13 on Ursus' site.

Ursus, thank you for documenting the Pennsic war once again. I look forward to seeing you work every year.
