The Lost Boys Battle : Pennsic 2010

There's no way I could pass up a battle billed as "for the love of melee". And so it was. A three way "inside the fort" battle that apparently got a little out of hand in the gate at the beginning (I missed that part) settled down nicely into a friendly, endless scrum over an interesting arrangement of haybales that kept the fighting from growing stale. At the end I had made some new friends and sat happily with them after the 2 hours of fighting was over, utterly exhausted.
I was pleased with my performance. One of the best moments for me was encountering a few children playing just outside our rez point, and I was struck by a thought that would occur again and again during my mini-Pennsic vacation - "This is my America."
The battle-side hospitality by the Lost Boys and other Bog groups was truly wonderous as well, with platter after platter of fresh fruits and the like served up by smiling, friendly faces.
Well done Lost Boys. People of the Bog, I salute you.
Regards
Avery
