On the tenth day of October in the year of our Lord nineteen hundred and thirty-five was brought into this world a giant among men. I speak not of his stature but of his impact on those who were touched by him. Never have I met person who knew him without having been deeply affected by him. This man is my mentor, my inspiration, my father, Stanley Bussey. Four years ago, he was taken from this world. I write to you today not to mourn his passing but to celebrate his life. As it was he who introduced me to our form of combat, it seems a fitting way to honor him.

Know all who read these words, that on the seventy-fifth anniversary of his birth, will I take up arms in combat à plaisance against the noble fighters of our Kingdom as well as our society as a whole. is my intent to match his age in number of bouts. I ask that you take this challenge, and meet me on the field Sunday, October tenth in the Barony of Tir Ysgithr, at their Dragon's Horde event. I ask that you meet me with the weapon of your own choosing. The only requirement that I have for those who would answer this call is that you bring with you your inspiration, whether in person, or as I will, in your heart.

Written this 22nd day of August,

Lord Ingvarr Ørrabein

Not sure on all the spelling, but very nice.

Of course, us Norse are not all up on the nicey-nicey, foofey-la-la wordings stuff.

Good Luck, and if I hit the Lotto, I will be there to give you one of the fights (unlikely, but true) :D

'Tis the day of my daughter's wedding vows, or I would consider the trip, so beautifully composed was your challenge.

I wish for you an honorable and rewarding day, sir.

Consider adding a short uplifting story on some moment with or about your father.

Hrolfr, They really were, just not this style but I didn't feel up to skaldic verse.

Eirik, Thank you for for your words. I Hope that your daughter's wedding goes off flawlessly and I wish her and her fiance a long and happy life.

Your Grace, I have been giving your suggestion a lot of thought, and am having trouble figuring it out. The things that come to mind quickest are of course those that mean the most to me and are the things that define him to me. Coming up with a story/anecdote that would give people who didn't know him a sense of who he was is giving me a bit of trouble though. I will continue thinking on it. It is a very good suggestion I just need to figure out if my storytelling is up to the task.

Either way it is a fine preface for your deed. 75 'fights' is considerable.

I'll have to check flights for that weekend - I've been meaning to visit out that way again soon. :D

Avery

I would be very honored.

This is the weekend of Great Western War which means that some people will be out of town but I'm hoping that enough will still be at the event that I can get my fights in. Well, that and that I have enough in me to get that many fights in.

Ingvarr,

As you have stated it will be the weekend of Great Western War. I will be attending there. Wish you could make it down, for a minute I saw the date and thought you would be doing it there. I wish you good luck and strength to see your quest through to the very end.
