A training trick.

For those of us who wish to talk about the many styles and facets of recreating Medieval armed combat.

The 'spark' is the time from recognition to action. It is slowed by:

Expectation
OVER focus
Muscle tension
Desire (in how a fight should go, what should be happening)
Fear
Over-complication
Fatigue

Some of these problems are overcome by training, practice (not the same thing) and better equipment. Others are strictly mental.

Few can completely eliminate them all.

There are certainly worse things to do with your time. I've been teaching and using Frozen Man for instance for several years. I've even developed it into a couple of variants.
