I have had a stick of rattan sitting around the hose for some time and what has kept me from putting it into service was a lack of avalable basket hilts around the house.

So today I got creative and made a new basket hilt for my sword.

I know its not straight but its not bad for my first attempt.[/img]

As long as it protects your hand you're good!

A fine piece of work. Quite good for a first attempt.

What did you make it out of?

That's over one million times better than my first one. Post a pic of it on stick when you get there.

If you make another, you might consider making something to keep it from turning. Make one of the bands wide enough to put a screw through into the side of the rattan (it might be already).

its made out of sign aluminum that a friend had in his backyard. I'm not sure of the guage though. I will take some pics of it on the stick when I get off work and post them as soon as possible.

Thanks for all the complements but its not my first one just my first out of aluminum.

Great job! But be careful about 'rebound'. sometimes the blow will cave the alum and crack across your knuckles and then return to shape instantaneously. In other words: wear some gloves under it! :P
