I'm not sure that's a very fair statement. We have already been offered many concessions (in country) for attendance if an American team shows up. The only thing we really need to show up with is armour and clothing. The rest they are willing to help with. Aside from the different levels of income and standards of living I can tell you the Ukrainian and Russian teams work very hard to subsidize their sport with corporate sponsorship. How many of them would be able to spend a week here? I think you be surprised how many would if the US government made the process possible. I would like to think if we held an event here I would make every effort to accommodate those who come from so far away.
Natalia made this post on my request to try and poke a little fun into getting some people interested. seems like that was a bad idea. Dont blame her or the Ukrainian organization for continuing to push the topic. Blame me.

An open invitation to an event that many people have shown interest in, greeted in such a way? It makes you wonder why there is so much disagreement between SCA fighters and steel fighters.

It stuns me that that the SCA does not have Under Armour as a corporate sponsor.

I'm conflicted. I'm trying like hell to fix it so that there is a Japanese team in a year or so, but if I fight, I want to fight on the American team.
Well, I have some time to work it out.

What did you have to do for the sponsorship? I can't really see you marching into battle flying an Adult Swim banner.
And what did they give you besides a few stickers?
I'd love to do Battle of the Nations, but my gear is no where near ready for that. Either to battle with steel, or even just to look good.

There's the banner, we hung it off our arming tent. I think Ingvar's helmet still has a sticker on it from like 6 years ago...LOL

Technically we are not a sport but a nonprofit org dedicated to the blah blah blah.
Nan non profit groups have commercial sponsorship? I honestly don't know. It would eb good but since the SCA is run by a bunch of Berkely PC hippie laywers, I doubt they would bite even if allowed.

Thats cool. It is because you are a private household and not an SCA entity?
Hell just got me thinking. Adult Swim may be a very good place to prop up SCA recruitment ads. Not that it would ever happen, but I think it would be a good place.
