Gladius at Gulf Wars

Post by Thomas MacFinn »

White paint is still wet in the photos. I got the overall length up to 32 inches. Overall, I am happy with it except for the stain job. I rushed to finish it and the temperature and rain had an effect on my staining process, so I doubt I will sell this one.

Although the stain isn't pretty, it still feels nice in the hand. Baron Eirik of Munitions Grade Arms will have it out on display at Gulf Wars for people to handle.

I never stay in one place for three of my opponent's blows. I also never let my opponent throw three unanswered blows. Standing in front of your opponent lets him perfect his pell technique. Most fighters are very good against a pell. - Duke Gyrth

Sweet! I'll have to look for that at Gulf Wars.

Historically, the gladius was a very effective close-in weapon. I'd love to see a whole line of shieldmen using them in a coordinated effort.

I wonder how man Calontirii I can convince should have them on the shield wall.

All of them! You can do it; I have faith in you. :)

You have more faith than I do...haha...I haven't been in armour in 3 months, much to my chagrin.

For those at Gulf Wars with internet access and a facebook account, I'd love to see more reviews at the foxknife armory page. The last review is from my son, who is possibly biased.

Not one? I'm disappointed.

I picked it up briefly when I bought my rattan. I liked it, but I would have to fight with it or its brother to give a real review of it. It felt surprisingly 'spry' in the hand.
