(SCA) Target archery in gear

In the IKAC there are two divisions....Open and Traditional. In the Traditional class one must use self nocked arrows, and bows with no arrow shelf or sights of any kind. So here's my idea.....a "Combat Gear" shoot. I'm not talking an IKCAC where combat archers shoot at the plywood man, I'm talking strictly target archery, but in some kind of period combat gear. The archers would have to wear period appropriate protective gear such as a mail coif with kettle helm, and padded jacket, or a bascinet with no visor or grille, padded jacket, etc. SOME attempt at a period appropriate and accurate fighting oufit that would fit the personna. What do you all think?? I think it would be a lot of fun and foster a bit more historical accuracy.

Well, I often shoot target archery right after stepping of the heavy field. So I most often have a good chunk of my heavy gear on. I tend to take off my helm and my full gauntlets. If I'm using my baskethilt with leather glove and demi gauntlet, I'll often leave that on. Otherwise my target x-bow shots are in demi armour.

it realy depends on how encumbering your gear is.
as long as it does not present any safty concerns go for it. Starting in kingdome would probibly be the place to start though and then work your way up.
