The first draft is up. There are a couple of rebated steel photos on the Officers, companion's and the gallery page. Not too many, but there is a picture of me with Arion and my broken rebated spear.

Well, we haven't technically been "landsknects" for a long time, in that we haven't been doing soldier class for awhile. Technically we are Swabian nobles -- the ones who put down the peasants in the Peasants war.

Germans in this period loved tourneying. In some towns this continued into fairly recent history.

We haven't abandoned it, but I didn't have any good picts of my recent German costumes for myself.

I've been trying to get an early 16th c suit together for years. It may finally happen this year....

yup:-) .... good reminder, I need to put links up for him on the site. He actually was fairly famous for splitting his cloak in half to give to a beggar. He was an early Christian saint known for charity. We plan to continue the saint's theme with some charity events.

I'm pretty sure the guys in Flesh and Blood were condotierri, not necessarily landknechts. There are a number of extremely subtle clothing differences that are even in the movie. The nobles were all Italian and the betraying general was Hawkwood. It was set close to the same time period of Arion and I's personas, but thats about where our connection with the movie ends.

We are planning our first Pas for a demo in February.

They were probably Swiss not German Landsknechts. Swiss would fight for anyone who could afford them, the Germans were much closer aligned with the H.R.E.

True.

Though soldiers from that period in Europe dressed pretty similarly, with minor regional decorative differences that were optional. They could have been a mish mosh of Swiss, Italian, Spanish, or German all hired by Hawkwood's condotierri company.

I'm sure your new group will do fine, Juliana. St. Martin is known for giving good directions to all who tug on the rope just right!

There is a Swiss/Swabian sword c1500 in the Tower that I love the etching on.
