My bad. I assumed you were referring to the popups or the soccer goal type stuff.
you know, I just realized we have something just as effective lying around though.
Rattan.
build a frame out of the cheap rattan that's too thin for swords. Put canvas over it. Lord knows it'll last forever and the canvas can eventually be replaced.

But now we're back to something easily knocked over by big, hefty Lads. Of course they are soft and squishy (the barrels) so that shouldn't be a problem. In fact, I'm liking the idea of barrels for corners at least.

I don't really care about something that's going to be easily knocked over. We get hay bales knocked over all the time. somebody either puts them back up (if they're important) or they stay on the ground.

I think the plastic barricades are the better looking of the plastic options presented so far. They at least have the cosmetic appearance of a wall. Round barrells look like...well...round barrells.
Of course, the bonus is you can always hide really easily if you are wearing plastic armor already. Just squat down and put something over your head.
Would it be possible to slowly acquire the plastic barricades? It might not be feasible to acquire enough for the entire war one year but if you can buy part of what's needed each year...
