Commission Available: Combat of the Thirty Painted Shield

After the Combat of the Thirty at Pennsic, Gilebert presented me with an awesome Vitus-built unfinished heater shield that he had announced (prior to the combat) that he would be giving to the person selected as best representing the spirit of the Deed (or somesuch... I'm a tad confused on the matter, since I believe he could've chosen MUCH, MUCH better).
I would very much like to make the shield worthy of the honor granted and of the Deed itself... and I'm thus looking for a superlative artist and craftsman who might be willing to take a commission to finish the shield with some exceptional scenic and armoured artistry of the sort recently demonstrated in the "show me your shield" thread.
Ideally, I'd like someone willing to do both the painting as well as the strapping -- and would pay accordingly.
If you might be willing to undertake the job, I would appreciate if you might send some examples of prior shield painting to me at
maxntropy@mac.comThanks!!

My take is that you need Robyn of Rye for the painting.
She really is that good.

Freiman:
Do you know of any examples? Is her email address the same Yahoo email that is on the Drachenwald site?

Isabella E and Insane Irish rock for this stuff. I'd offer but I suck at getting things done on time and I got my own A&S projects to do now that I am (almost) an apprentice.

Max, I tried to e-mail you examples and it bounced, can you PM me your e-mail if you are still looking for an artist? Thanks!

You continue to doubt and ponder the reasoning behind this gift.
Remember this, I did NOT know who you were (by name or appearance) prior to this last CotT. There was no influence, in my mind, as to who to give this gift to.
You *must* stop verbalizing your doubt about this and accept the gift for what it was. A gift acknowledging your whole-hearted love of our sport and time-period.
As I was not able to fight that day and the shield was going to be my ransom item, someone was going to get it. I had the shield with me and decided that it was going to find a worthy that would do it right and proper justice.
It found that home with you.
Take this as name and deed fame... for that is what it is. You have inspired me to upgrade my 14th C. kit. To make a more homogenous look.
Thank YOU!
Gilebert

Max,
Here is the thread that I did when Rob and I were planning on making and selling early period flat shields.

Gilebert:
Thanks. I hear you and take your words to heart.
And thanks to Ursus, I have a much better sense of what you're talking about... it appears I looked pretty slick (and I know I fought reasonably well).

I would put this pic right next to the one of Sir WIlliam Edwards (Leo Medii) from a few years ago!
This is a really nice picture!

The gauntlets almost make me want to give up on finishing my Norman kit. Truly fantastic. Looks like 14th Century kit is next. Very well done Max.

Wow. Thanks. Really. Really-Really. Since I consider that picture iconic, and consider Leo one of my great friends and inspirations.

To demur a compliment is to question the judgement of the person extending it.

Payn:
Just so. Given the quality assembled before me, I did question the judgement of the complimenter. I'm not overly humble by any stretch, but as it was my first CotT, I just didn't see it and felt a little uncomfortable from it. Not meant to demean Gilebert and his outstanding character in any way... I was just unclear about the one decision.
I got better.

Isabella Evangelista!!!
she took my raw windrose heater, and made it the highlight of my kit.
have spent years getting my armour together, and whenever someone stops to comment on my kit it is always the shield they speak of first.
