We have noticed an increase in the amount of "flat" blows thrown with swords. To help increase fighter awareness, We have asked the marshals to be especially watchful for flats as well as anviling.

Full of win. I've seen a huge amount of FLAT junk over the last five years. And, it only seems to be increasing, or it has become something I've been paying more and more and more attention to. Anything that makes people more adge aware and less "I'm a club smashy caveman" is way OK in my book.

Sean, I thought of that, although I wouldn't bother trying to hit with what would be the "flat" (had it been a "sword"). I figured it would be disrespectful of HRM's wishes.
