What is the most number of fights, not including practice, you've done in a day?
What's the most you have heard anyone doing?

The most I can actually put a number on is 48, from a William Marshal style tournament while I was a squire. But then, I have rarely tried to count.

I once did 100 fights in one day, but that was the only time I ever counted my fights. It was just a goal I wanted to see if I could achieve.

No idea.
Why not including practice? Do pick-ups count?
I've fought a large number of fights in valhalla tournaments and in An Tir squires tournaments..~60ish in an hour would probably be my top out in that style?

Counting fights in a day seems like tough math to me,
though I remember crossing sticks with a fighter from Japan who
was trying to get signatures for a thousand bouts with 200 combatants
in the course of a Pennsic.
What I like, is that pick-up week before Pennsic,
fighting all day and getting to be familiar with those die
hard fighters who have to be drug off the field at sunset
by camp mates who know better and must force feed them
soup. I think the best fighting growth occurs through
relentless Pennsic or Gulf Wars pickups with strangers.
Good stuff.

I wasn't counting practice or pick up because most of the ones I've watched aren't "fought" as much as "sparred" Usually not even a complete fight. Someone gets legged and yields, etc. A feat of arms or a bearpit are different.

My number seems pitiful, but I've done 10 to 20 fights in a day, mainly at demo's.
Even when I was authorized I never actually entered a tourney and now I have to reauthorize.

Why not count Practice? fighting at practice and training are two different animals.... I would say I have fought close to a hundred in a day not non stop in an 6-7 hour period on the field...

My exact highest in one day is 237. The highest I believe is a gentle from this years Pennsic who did 250 in a day.

Never counted, but back when I was in much better shape than I am now, I had a few days when I was one of the first on the field, one of the last off, and didn't take my helmet off all day - even then it was only something I could do a handful of times.

Back in the day, 'Mad Dog' tourneys were pretty common in my area - find an open fighter, an available marshall, and a bit of open list field and get to it - the usual practice was to fight three fights, and the winner (2 of 3) stayed on the field, while the loser went to the lists table to report in. Usually, there was a point for fighting, and a point for winning, so it was possible to win the tourney through sheer bloody-minded determination, even if your win/loss ratio wasn't great. Sometimes, the day's rules included enhancements for fighting a knight (+1 point) and beating the knight (+1 point)
I remember averaging 170-190 fights in these, while the winners regularly were in the 250+ total fights for the day. On a long Southern California summer day, you can get in an awful lot of good stick time.

I believe Sir Diglach of the Midrealm did 300 or 400 in one day, maybe 6 years ago?

Numerous guys have done 1000 fights in a day. Duke Aaron from Ealdormere and Duke Darius of the east spring to mind.

Yeah Duke Darrius is a beast. He was having a hard time getting people to fight him one day and I gave him 100 fights just in one day, he is amazing and I love him for it!

I fought 235 bouts in 3 1/2 hours as a fund raiser for the Susan B Komen foundation.
1000 in a day? Gah.

We do a bear pit tourney where you get a point for showing up and a point for winning. I had 60 something points and had probably won about 15 fights. There were guys with over 300 points.

My highest total at Birka has been 67. I have probably done more at practices but I haven't really kept track of the numbers.

I was going to approximate my number, but honestly, this thread bothers me. It's become an opportunity for self-aggrandizement. We do enough of that as it is.

I dont think the number is as important as how good and long the fight was. I have had one bought with someone that took 5-10 minutes of pure hard fighting. I have also walked up and in about 3 seconds get my haed knocked off because I was not paying attention or I just suck so much my opponent bested me that quickly...

I worried about that too. I discussed it with The Emerald Lady, and she said to only post the date, the number, and the cause.

I met a guy at Pennsic almost 10 years ago who was trying to finish 1000 in a week, but that was pickups, unorganized, and he wasn't really pushing the goal. I don't know if he finished.
Nothing on the scale you guys are talking about:
I've been in one tournament where everyone had to fight almost 90 each... and many passed out or sat out before the NEXT ROUND! That was, ahem, bad planning on a hot/humid day with biting insects.
I was in another where it was an open challenge format with 25-30 people. I fought 144 challenges, although many/most were very short.
I fought a friend to "first to get 100 hits" which seemed to take forever, as we were pretty even the whole way and ended at 98-100. That's kind of like 200 "fights," but without resetting between.
Still, none of those were as difficult as one fight that lasted almost 7 minutes, mostly 40-50 second bursts of continuous combat and 10-20 second breaks for wheezing insults and compliments.

do not challenge Sir Geoffrey to be the last one off the field, he will win.
that being said. i just show up fight scenarios do some pickups in between, after the battles do some pickups, vomit a bunch, fight some more, and generally i just stick around till i've fought everyone or there is nobody else to fight, i would guess i generally hit a few hundred any given day during pickup fights. i will be at GWW if anyone is interested in bashing the Baby Knight of the West

A few crown lists back our format was that each round was win by 2 (think tennis). I drew his grace Radu in the semis we only went 8 or 9 passes but it was 57 minutes in total only breaks was to recenter us and call lay on. And lemmie tell you it felt like 1000 fights after.

I've done that. It took me 5 days to pull off. It's really not terribly hard to do at Pennsic, especially if you can organize an impromptu bear pit. Run the line a few times and you're at 30, 40 fights right there.

It's true about Sir Geoffrey Scott...I have never seen anyone else on the pickup field for that long before.
