Hi,

This was funny, and those Russians certainly play a rough game. The Marshal's Court would have to go over a four day weekend for this crew. ;)

Fun Stuff! :)

White wagon wheel on a red background with a black hose-like edging at 27 seconds in and reappearing later. Why does that look familiar? Is that used by anyone in the SCA?

I saw roughly 8 kicks or knees to the groin. I like these guys.

I, for one, am totally waiting to see the video of the SCA guys that go over to that battle of the nations.

Depending on who they take, it could be quite the conversation starter.

I do know that once you take away that one shot kill rule things change real quick in the combat game.

It's not a wheel, but isn't AEthelmearc's heraldry gules, a carbuncle argent (it looks like a wheel at a distance)?

The music pretty much makes this video though.

I don't what his taint did to deserve it but I'm sure it was something.

Agreed, the wheels are reminiscent of Aethelmarc's escarbuncle.

OK, that's why I had A) seen something like it and B) couldn't put a name with the device. Makes sense now.

I remember chatting with a pair of LARPers who said they were afraid to get into SCA combat because in their opinion the SCA was "Way Hard Core". These were not small or light dudes and for boffers hit with authority. I thought they would fit in well. When I watch the Russian guys fight I'm torn between half of me saying "I could never fight like that (or risk my health insurance and job to feed my family) " and the other half screaming "THAT LOOKS LIKE SO MUCH FUN!!!" (except for the morning star and the taint thing)

I'll gladly admit to being a wuss. A good wallop with one of our polearms is quite enought for me. I wouldnt want to get full-force with one of theirs. Those things look scary. More power to em.

Personally, I love the shield bashing.

Oh I'm all for Shield bashing, and I wouldn't mind a little friendly grappling (and this is coming from a guy who is 5'9" 159). I just don't like stabby and heavy metal blades on sticks.
