The front page of our website is now up at http://www.usaknights.org The rest of the site will be up this weekend. I hate to ask but any donation people give to the site will go to our cost of shipping our equipment to the event. If you want to see us take on the Russians (who are the current champs) please help us out.

Even if you are not going and want to start a practice group feel free. We are going to want to have people ready and the more people training for this the better. If you do start a training group send me your info and I will add it to the website.

I would do this just to go to the Ukraine. What are the rules, weapons and armor standards? It looks like there is maybe no thrusting allowed?

That might have to wait until my daughter gets the riding itch so I can justify it. But it is on the bucket list.

The Olden Days back in Jersey City had much the same feel (and disregard for life, property, and the other guys' pursuit of happiness).

Sean: The heraldry we have (almost finally) selected was produced by Benton Fagan and his wife (as anyone watching the discussions on our Facebook group can find out) and is shown below.

We also have a version with an escutcheon in the center of the Eagle's chest so that we can each display our own heraldry or a sponsor's logo.

We are still looking for alternatives for the back of t-shirts if folks want to take a crack at that (e.g., the don't-tread-on-me snake coiled around a sword with "we'll tread on you" as the text).

Thus far it seems likely that the heraldry will be on red surcoats and that we might be sporting blue leather belts with white stars. It will also be displayed on our shields (we're looking for someone who can print on heavy canvas so we each have similar displays that are also easy to attach to shields).

Hope you like it!

If you haven't already gotten in touch w/ Duke Kelson or Cet, you might try them.

There is some very interesting information in the news section of their website - especially on the total weight of their kits:

Please don't over do it. You don't want to look like wonder-woman out there where everything is a flag motief. I actually think the eagle proper is already over-kill. Add in a blue-stared belt and you are crossing the line into tacky. If you do that then at least talk to someone about casting belt plaques in pewter and then painting the recess blue... and even that I think is pushing it.

I'm certain that the Russian team has a lot of national pride but you didn't see red tabards with a hammer and sicle motief. Heck, I think one of the polish fighters is carying a shield with the Swiss city of Bern heraldry (Red, Yellow bend with a Black Bear from memory.)

We're Americans and we have our pride. We are also above rubbing their face in it. Think subtle, and when you win you want them to say you were the friendliest guests who ever kicked their ass.

Actually what the Russians are wearing is the Russian Coat of Arms (the hammer and sickle being retired when the Soviet union fell). Also Russia is all about national pride watch a few of the videos of their celebrations and their entrances.
