Advice Sought: Looking for good cased greaves (reasonable $)

All:

I'm looking for advise on where I might best be able to find some really good, functional, and reasonably well-shaped and decorative cased greaves (preferably stainless) for a reasonable price.

Ideally something with nice curves and at least an attempt at fitting (well-fitted greaves being rather important), from a trustworthy source capable of delivering within a month or three.

Anybody have any suggestions? They will all be much appreciated.

Thanks!

No suggestions, but I'm looking for a dragon I can ride to and from events. Let me know if you see one, and I'll keep an eye out for your stuff too.

Hammerbreaker, Max. Great price, spring steel, five weeks from payment to arrival.

I second Hammerbreaker. He made me a pair in spring and they fit great and were reasonably priced.

Cheers,

Jan

Lucian and Jan:

(1) You talking about http://www.hammerbreaker.com.ua/? There on no greaves separately listed on that website...

(2) Do you know if he does spring stainless?

(3) How much did he charge you guys?

I believe he posted them in his sale thread.

Not sure if he does spring stainless. He and I talked initially and I asked for stainless but I ended up with spring steel due to a miscommunication. I'm fine with that.

$300 before shipping, I believe.

That's not reasonable, that's insanely cheap for fitted spring steel.

I think with shipping they were $350-360. WELL worth the price in my opinion.

That is outstanding. How did he cast your leg to get the fit right?

Hi Icefalcon,

I gave Hammerbreaker 6 measurements of my calfs. And the greaves fit very well. My guess is that they have stand-ins with the same size as the client. But it's just a guess.

Cheers,

Jan

With enough measurements, someone can make a pretty complex 3-D shape that matches the shape of the body part from which the measurements were taken. I think this is easier with fabric (more malleable), but it can clearly be done with metal too.
