Thought I'd give it a shot. This one certainly ain't the purdiest but it's a proof of concept. I'll take it to practice tomorrow and see how it swings.

39 inches overall, intended to be used 2 handed. I need to stain the half but it seems fairly solid.





Nothing to serious, I've planned on using the Vitus tutorial at some point when I've got a bit more time. This is just layered leather, strapping tape, and a foam striking edge on the face of the hammer.

so i am assuming there is foam on the spike side of the hammer? how are you making sure that spike will not penetrate more than a 1/4 inch between the 1 in bar requirement? the reason i ask is working on the assumption that those are made with 1.25 in rattan those spikes do not look large enough and would penetrate at least that much with a stout blow.

There is no foam on the back side, I had thought about it, but decided that a it would probably be more useful as just a weapon or shield "catch" to manipulate your opponent into a position. The thruster and hammer face are made of foam.

I do believe that even incidentally the back spike shouldn't protrude through a bar grill, I tried to force it through my helmet grill and didn't get anywhere. I really didn't see a reason to need a striking edge on the front and back since being a 2 handed weapon there wasn't much use for a wrap shot. Just kinda made sense that way.

Was able to play with this a little bit at practice yesterday. At 39 inches you have to be all up in the fight. No range game. It was a blast, not as fun against a good two stick guy, but fun nonetheless.

The head is a bit light, but swung with 2 hands it hits sufficiently. I need to better secure the pommel (that I pillaged from my longsword) but I think I'll keep playing with it until the time comes to build a better one.


That Bed De Corbin is awesome, btw.

It's a blast, I have it on a 52' pole with a buttspike. You have to wrestle while you fight, but it's an absolute blast.

Yup, putting it on the longer pole really made it a great tool

How's the plastidip holding up?

Not the bestest, starting to get some pretty serious tears around the points where the head connects to the shaft, am going to be replacing it with silver tape soonish.
