is that painted or shaped? if the latter, could we see it in profile?

Checky is a fairly common Atlantian thing.Kilian_the_warlike wrote:With the checks, and the slightly blury motion shot, the first thing that popped in my head was SPEED VIKING.
Was there a specific reason you didn't have a bevor?zachos wrote:Your wish, etc.
My light armour, for a club tournee when I was fighting as someone's squire.

I know. But now I have to take pics of Duke Valhalric, Gwain and a few others and make an add for formula 1 viking racingThomas MacFinn wrote:Checky is a fairly common Atlantian thing.Kilian_the_warlike wrote:With the checks, and the slightly blury motion shot, the first thing that popped in my head was SPEED VIKING.
Simply because I don't yet own one that I'm happy with. I was offered several to try, but I'm a firm believer that if something doesn't fit exactly it's going to do more harm than good. After the first day, and a blood lip, I simply upped my game and managed to avoid any further lower face injuries. The amount of paintings that show just maille and no bevor suggests that this is a period solution to the problem as well.Thomas MacFinn wrote:Was there a specific reason you didn't have a bevor?zachos wrote:Your wish, etc.

thanks, it is shaped steel. My most recent kit pictures are from a demo on september 8th, here's a pic from a few days earlier when I was working on the faux slashes around brow/sides. It still needs a bit of cosmetic work to be finished, but is functional as is.jenzinas wrote:lovely.woodwose wrote:Rapier kit...

Many improvements I'd like to do though.
I'd like to add a blackened maille drape for my helm. Etched stainless plates to go over the maille. Eventually maille chauses and etched knees. As of now the biker boots will have to suffice until I can afford better.
Great location atmosphere.Thorvaldr Skegglauss wrote:Just this past weekend at Tournier des Hertwaldes.
That is way more amazing than it appeared at first.woodwose wrote: thanks, it is shaped steel. I feel somewhat successful then, it is in fact Ottoman. I'm going for kinda sorta something around the second half of the 15th.Said ibn-Ali wrote:Benedek wrote:I'm "happy" with this one now.........kinda.

I have to ask what timeframe and location are you going for? Looks almost Ottoman or Pole?

It feels a little restricted, but is surprisingly good (or maybe just a lot better than I expected)... and besides, I kind of figure that fencing with slightly restricted vision will mostly make me a better fencer (we used to do blindfolded and restricted vision parry drills at a historical fencing and WMA study group I used to go to). I thought I would have trouble with lowline shots, but have not. So far ventilation has been a much bigger concern than vision.Antonio wrote:And just HOW bad is your vision?
thanks you and thanks to everyone else for the compliments... its been a lot of work. If I was wearing different footwear I'd be able to say I made every bit of my kit except for the gloves, fencing jacket, and blade on the "estoc". the bunch of you probably just motivated me to get to work on the trunk hose I've been planning to match the doublet and lower hose.Christian1095 wrote:Best ever... super impressive...
As everyone else has been nice enought to say, I repeat: Awesome kit!woodwose wrote:Rapier kit...

Here are a few more in color:Sigurd of Jorvik wrote:Cool photo, and nice kit!
While I do like that stylized B/W shot, I'd love to see some in color. I'm trying to get a 14th cent rig together and wanted to see your CoP better.
