After nine months, finally swung a stick.

After two surgeries on my right arm, bursitis, frozen shoulder, torn rotator cuff and detatching my tendon from the bone in the elbow (all due to fighting) I put on armor and did some slow fighting.
At first I fought with my poleaxe against sword and shield because there isn't as much damaging moves. Not counting
how awful I fought, there was pretty good movement and no damage.
Later I went and did a little bit of sword and shield work. All big slow looping swings and no snappy shots.
Still good.
I was stiff and sore the next day but nothing went "pop".
So, on Wednesday I plan on going to practice and trying to go a bit longer. Still being gentle, still going to PT, but
making baby steps.
I'm kind of unhappy with the SCA right now, but my love of fighting is undiminished. I'll always have Practice.

I recovered from a hip replacement in early 2010 and found that steady as she goes works best. Also have you talked with your PT on what your doing as far a fighing goes?

Oh and screw the politics, enjoy the fighting...

Wonderful news!

I've noticed that pollaxe fighting produces the least amount of self-inflicted injuries for me. It's mostly body core work with legs. The arms are mostly just for targeting.

Loving the poleaxe. On top of that, the axe was a gift by the amazing Ld. Randwulf (known on the list as eidelon).
It swings like a lightsaber and hits like an elephant.

I'm looking forward to training more on the less-familiar to Ansteorra styles of poleaxe, "Christian" and two-sword as I recover.
Why? Because they are fun, that's why.

Rats...I was going to post a picture but nothing is seeming to work. I'll keep trying.

I've heard of brothers in arms, but you're my first full brother in shoulders. December 14th had a single surgery on my right arm to repair bursitis, torn rotator cuff, some arthritis and junk and a detached tendon from the shoulder (all due to fighting).

Nine months, eh? Was hoping my recovery would be less than that... but it'll be what it'll be and glad to hear things are working!

Congratulations!!
