Follow the Battle of Nations Team
Re: Follow the Battle of Nations Team
That was Duke Uther doing the Maltese Bransle.
Style points, we hazem.

Re: Follow the Battle of Nations Team
looks like our guy is gassed, and not well versed in dealing with the tripping and the shield punches to the face.

Re: Follow the Battle of Nations Team
Was that Uther? Was he defeated by plate+lack of conditioning? He usually wears leather, right?
Re: Follow the Battle of Nations Team
Ouch! Looks like they need more work on shield punching and throwing punches before next year.

Re: Follow the Battle of Nations Team
Video cut out for me on Zach Most fight, but when it came back up for a few seconds US fighter was on one knee. Then it froze again. Now marshalls milling about.
What happened?

Looked to me like he was stunned by one of the blows. After that he was clearly struggling. I hope he's ok.

I'd be surpised if he does not have a concussion from those shield punches.
Re: Follow the Battle of Nations Team
OK, one more time, please Lord, bring back Team USA in reasonably good health.

Re: Follow the Battle of Nations Team
I'm pretty sure that wasn't Zach. The guy was wearing splinted greaves. And there looked to be much more than a 5 kg disparity between the two.
Jeez...just watched that guy in blue and white staggering forward then faceplant. They need to stop that fight.

Re: Follow the Battle of Nations Team
Man, those shield edge punches look brutal. The force they can transfer can be devastating. I echo Aarons' plea.

Re: Follow the Battle of Nations Team
Lots of double kills for the Isreali fighter.
Re: Follow the Battle of Nations Team
He can leave with honour and should IMHO. His call though. One tough cookie.

LOTS of hugging between those two.
Re: Follow the Battle of Nations Team
The Israeli guy should not be on the field. He needs medical attention.

Re: Follow the Battle of Nations Team
A few observations.
It is their game and they are good at it.
The cardio and stamina of the guys from Russia, Poland, Ukraine seems to be really, really good.
The wrestling skills seems to be important, punching with shield as well.
Most common shot seems to be some version of the snap against helmet or leg.
Heathers are not good for punching but the strapped rounds seems to be.
Great weapons were not as important in melees as I would have thought.
Full situational awerness is needed in the game of full contact tackle and crosschecking.
Interesting to watch but not my cup of tea to participate in.

Re: Follow the Battle of Nations Team
I'm starting to be less and less impressed by the 'just-push-em-over' method.
It appears most of the problems I was having was due to lunch time
bandwidth use...
I think the Mandrake/Windrose smaller bucklers would be pretty handy for the
punching though.

Really? Coach?
Re: Follow the Battle of Nations Team
Sometimes, in a fight of this format, it's all about being too bloody obstinate to know when you're beaten. A few minutes ago he was a staggering fighter. Now? Say what you want about the son of bitch but he's got balls to hang in there this long. This is looking more and more like some fight descriptions I've read. They rested and re-armed and then continued.MalcolmdeMoffat wrote:ok after three bouts why is the Isreali guy still fighting ???

Re: Follow the Battle of Nations Team
Yeah, he seems to be getting creamed.
EDIT: Just ugly. Not even defending himself. There's no way this competition could take place in this country...someone will eventually get killed. Man...

Israeli (blue and white) is Mikhail Morgulis and the other guy is Artur Kreivald if the dance card on the USAKnights.org site is accurate.Brennainn wrote:Anybody know what that fella's name is?

Re: Follow the Battle of Nations Team
I did stop to watch the Israeli - Baltic guy fight since at least one of the combatants were unable to defend themself. I do believe that the fight should have been a TKO or that the second should have thrown in the towel, rag or whatever. A lot of honour but stupidity to continue past a certain point. That the Team USA fighter yielded the fight speaks highly of that fighter in my book.

Mikhail Morgulis might want to change his last name to Balboa.

Well you could also say, and I doubt this was the reason, but even in the beginning, he didnt block a lot of the head shots, cause maybe well they just didnt hurt, so why waste the energy of blocking them.
