Tho' that cut looks like it stayed relatively shallow inside the brain. Still a certain kill at that time period, of course, but there's an interesting case in Pare's 'Journeys in Diverse Places' where he talks about the Swiss hit in the head with a halberd (over cards) lasting about a week, IIRC. Also a source for the 'Girl dressing up in boys clothing to go to the wars- that's how the Mercenary's girlfriend was dressed.
