Video of West Crown finals from last weekend are online at
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQ4_QmIl ... ature=plcp .
The format was a bit different this time. 60 fighters split into 4 pools did a round robin, the best 2 from each field did another round robin, the 4 who tied in that did yet another round robin. Finals were then best 2 out of 3 for the top two in the final round robin.

Roger.
Man, those are some rather...Atlantian sized shields.

25 rounds they went through to get to those finals too.
As for shield size, well, they are both imports.
(Rogers from the East & Jost is from Atenvelt)

I had 32 fights during the day. I believe that Jost had 28.

Laughing at the shield size question. I think we have got over our shield size debate in the West, most kite shields are 24x36 or 22x36, with no more drama. Heaters @ 24x36 are not uncommon now, half rounds are rare. Thrusting being the biggest game changer for many of the small shield users. We require full force for a thrusts btw even in the face. STill fighting has moved on.
Both of those were the 24x36
It was an odd make up as for a Crown list, no Dukes were fighting in the list as competitors, we did have one count from about a decade ago. Typically we have 3 to 5 Dukes in the list, 60 plus fighters. This site was in a remote location, so the list was 60 including the those fighting or fun, about 10 or so fighters, with several of them being Dukes who just came out for fun . We often refer to this as a wide open list when no Duke's are fighting in the list, it is a rare thing. For Quarter finals 2 fighter from each round robin pool advanced. The 8 fighters fought and we had a 4 way tie with 4 of them having 2 losses each. This gave us 4 fighters for semis, that was fought in a round robin style, Roger and Yost came to finals from that. A interesting detail is both of these Knights, are what we would call are bachelor Knights, meaning neither are Viscounts. The last time a fighter won who was not already a viscount was About 15 years ago Sir Venumean (SP?) no idea sorry..
Fun weekend and good fighting
Congrats to Roger & Yost both for giving us a clean finals to watch !

Roger, I remember you saying, near the end of the 2nd Round Robin, something to the effect of "It looks like I'm out. 5 wins of 7 isn't good enough to advance" and then me saying something to you like "It's not nothing to get this far. It's not nothing to have fought 22 'A' Game fights in one day. You should be proud of yourself."
Then you won.
I later told Jost that he had accomplished a mighty deed that day, and has nothing to feel bad about.
Hell, I only marshaled 20 of the rounds and I was exhausted. Y'all must have been well beyond that.

Those are pretty much standard sized shields here in Atenveldt too, even in Crown.

I know all about the shield debate and where those two fighters are from. Heh.
They looked very tired. That is the one thing I dislike about these 'bop till you drop' Crowns, the finals are often lacking.
And someone should tell His Highness that you'll never be any good throwing that many offsides in a row...
BWAHAHAHAA!
Seriously congrat to him, he's a great dude.

HRH Roger has been a great add to our kingdom
I am glad we got a good low mileage import Knight

Clearly he has lot of fighting mileage left in him.

I select my equipment such that the issue will always be in doubt. If there is no doubt then the contest is over.
Congratulations

Wait...you get to be a Viscount by winning Crown...and no one who hasn't already won Crown has won in 15 years?
Or does Viscount mean something different out on the left coast?

Viscount(ess)s have been Prince(ess), not King/Queen. A great many Western knights were viscounts
before they were knights.

Teagan , you become a Viscount or Vicountess in the west by reigning a principality The West has three, the Mists, Cynagua, and Oertha, these are 6 month reigns. (Prince and Princess)
here is a bit more on them :

I guess I finished 6th or 7th. At one point I won 14 straight fights, but the last 5 killed me. I didn't even have to fight all the tie breakers.

Well, how could you be expected to be at the top of your game when you've been so busy with your role in
Brave?

Well Pixar is in the East Bay, so it's quite possible Sigifrith was the model . . . Even if he won't admit it.
