1. Stick with a style and learn it well enough to be a threat.
2. Stop blaming the equipment
3. Attend more events
4. Improve my kit appearance

1. Ramp up my fitness program and add yoga to the mix.
2. Start a backyard practice to have someone to work drills with.
3. Improve my kit.
4. Fight in some tournaments this year.

1. Become good, not just ok, with bastard sword. Like MarkH good.
2. Make it to the finals of the Fighter Auction at festival.
3. Build the local practice from 3-5 in armour to 8-12.
4. Drop ten kilos by Pennsic.
5. Beat Count Berengar in a tournament.

Put on armor and go fight again.

Try to make it to Sport of Kings and see if I can even call in my raincheck and teach.

For now, that is enough.

Lose 10 more pounds,
Get to practice more often,
Stay Healthy enough to do the above 2,
See my squires more often.

I pretty much have my kit where I want it so it is time to focus on training.

I suppose I should start by resolving to find the motivation to get back into fighting again.

Hanko Kal wrote:1) Continue on my rehab of my knee Knee is doing great after total knee replacement. I am able to really move and run for the first time since I was a college athlete.
2) Pick more fights with knights Much easier to do this when I am not worrying about knee or conditioning.
3) Improve on body mechanics Still have so much to work on here.
4) Continue making improvements to my kit. This is the one that I really don't feel like I have done enough at.
5) Be the guy that nobody really wants to face in a tourney(make it tough for them to get comfortable and fight their style to dictate the fight)I think this was a bad goal because it isn't something that I can judge. I know I am a tougher fight in a tourney but not sure if I am really setting the pace and moving people to fight different than usually do.
This years goals.
1) Practice more, pell more, spear drill more. Do what I need to do off the tournament field and melee field to make the difference on the field.
2) Continue to improve on my fitness levels. I am so much better than a year ago, but still have a lot of room to grow.
3) Make my kit something to be proud of. It doesn't have to be perfect, but have no worries about it looking good.
4) Focus on making each fight as good of a fight as I can. Don't cheat myself or an opponent by not locking in on the moment.

Ahh, not PT then, but it sounds like you have an action plan and know what you need to do to move forward. Now it's just a matter of doing it :-)

While that must be frustrating, that is still a much better problem to have than being broken all around!

Cunian wrote: (5) I'm going to haul matched weapons everywhere, so I can get the practice I need with bastard sword.
Cunian, you did have a great fighting year, from the times I saw or fought you! I was impressed that you were one of the last fighters still standing at the end of that shieldless bearpit at Ruby Joust.

Bring your bastard swords to Ymir, I'd be happy to share a few more tricks :D

Yep, you are welcome up at that mountain practice anytime...though don't wait too long, since I'm moving soon!

In fact, we are having a regional melee practice in Florence this Saturday...wanna come?

Great goals everyone, keep 'em coming!

Unfortunately, I don't think we'll be going to Gulf this year.
Me on injured reserve last year and then spinal surgery on my wife this past month
have drained both savings and vacation time so we'll probably have to just wave
as our forces march past.

Hopefully by the summer we will be caught up on both and I can look at Sport of Kings.
Unless something dramatic happens we are pretty much in "burnout hiding" stage and not
doing a lot of SCA for a bit.

Honestly, for this year is to just fight. I think I fought a handful of practices, less than 5, and maybe 5 events if that many. Let politics harsh my mellow for fighting, and just kept away from the game for the most part. Won't be letting that happen again this year. Will go back to being blissfully ignorant of the politics that go on in this game and just get back to enjoying fighting.

To actually fight.
Work has sucked the fight out of me. I have gained 15 lbs, and lost energy.
I didn't keep any of my 2012 Fighting resolutions.

1 - Complete the Insanity program which I have paused for Christmas
2 - Maintain my routine of throwing 1000 slow shots a week
3 - After insanity devise a training program which involves a lot of shot putting and other full body movements
4 - Compete in tournaments at Templcombe and Raglan castle
5 - Make it to practice sessions now and then.

Well, I succeeded in some degree or another in my resolutions of last year.
This year?
1) Go to more events with my Knight
2) Build stamina and strength
3) Technique! Technique! Technique! I just gotta stop throwing sloppy blows >:[
4) Be even more aggressive on the field and to become a bigger threat, and to behave more Proud in bearing when off of the field (i.e, not acting like a doe-eyed goof-ball quite so much).

1. I want to do 3 hours of pell a week.
2. Make a fight practice every 2 weeks when available
3. Finish replacing loaner gear.
4. Make at least 2 tournaments, and survive past the first bout.
5. Continue to be tobacco free for a second year

Get authorized for Cut and Thrust. I've successfully gotten authorized for rapier. Now I just have to update my kit with a new gorget, elbow and knee cops, and finger gauntlets.

I will want to hit an event every two months.

My resolutions date back from when I got home from my deployment and essentially not being able to fight or even really do pell-work for an entire year...

1) Build pell in backyard so I don't have to drive to a friends house to train
2) Train on said pell
3) Complete CoP and acquire Wisby "fingermittens" and articulated knees/elbows to finish out XIVth C. kit in a fashion that I will qualify for CotT
4) Attend CotT, not "give away" ransom (read: don't suck or get captured immediately)
5) Study and practice chivalry more

Attend more practices, and in doing so build up my stamina.
Fight harder and throw more shots.
And most importantly--have fun doing so.

Thanks to some ducal motivation, I now have a bucket of concrete with a 4x4 post curing in my bathroom (concrete needs ventilation and it's too cold outside).

I started the Your Shape Fitness Evolved 2012 on the Xbox Kinect a little over three weeks ago and its helped my cardio/fle noticeably. I never thought I'd be doing exercises in front of a TV but I'll be damned if it's not that bad.
Of course, bike polo twice a week is effectively like doing wind-sprints on and off for three hours straight, so I'm sure this factors into things too ...

Ha ha. I'm an old fat guy with stuff that don't work right. I'm also trying to detox my body off my medications...mainly because medical billing and my ignorance of medical insurance, has put me in a position that I can't get a new prescription for quite some time. So fuck it. I'll give it my best effort to get fit and healthy even if it kills me!
