Sounds goofy but I found the stress of kneeling etc was rough on my points and point holes so I pointed my legs with the cord from those very small bungee cords, it worked excellent

Not the best what you can't see is my finger gaunts, my bascinet, with aventail, still missing greaves.

Pietro, is your arm armour on the wrong arm, or do you have "wing" on the inside as well as the outside ?

WMA, no inside wing, I must have shifted. Or just look funny cause of the way my arm is.

I would lose my mind if that were to happen.

Tim, your kit is looking great. It looks like you just jumped off a longship and are about to go a-viking at some hapless coastal village!
If you know anyone good at graphic design, you should ask them to transpose your image onto a scene of a burning town or something

Hey Tim,
you're on the right path. Good Man.
You needn't write the belt off, just add a tongue.
A 3" Nail, Cut off the head, anneal it on your kitchen stove, or some other gas burner, bend it close to a ? cut a notch in the belf to take it, and crimp closed over the ring. Done.
looking at the grip you have on your axe, shave the handle so you can grip it properly.

Very nice John, the only thing I would add to make it really pop is replacing the buckles with historical ones.

Yeah I did so for the greaves and the helmet strap but the rest I have yet to get to and it annoys me to no end really, I cant find period buckles that aren't brass. Nothing against the makers I just don't like the look of brass.

Actually had someone take my picture at practice the other night.
1: It needs to be polished. It has gotten a little rust.
2: The aventail is way to long. The helmet was my wedding present. I am thinking to be retiring it to the shelf soon. If I ever get my refurbed houndskull back from Jackie.
3: I am not wearing my spaulders w/ besegews. Actually looking at this pic, I don't know if the besegews would work with this aventail.
4: I NEED GREAVES. I am not 100% sure I am going to keep these legs, or sell them to get a full matching set with greaves.
5: I am not wearing my surcoat or jupon, or my plaque belt.
There is a padded aventail under the chain one. I wonder how it would look if I just took the chain off.

Lol, been waiting all year to get kit together by Pennsic. So I can finally post a pic of my current kit. This is war kit, for tourneys, I have a 30x30 boetian shield I use, that meets are sometimes Crown reqs.

Some recent pics of my fighting kit. Still focused on 950's Irish persona.
At Gleann Abhann's most recent Crown Tourney:

At Pennsic:

The big medallion is from the Beowulf Tourney, not a regular part of my kit.
The helm and shield are the next to go - the helm to be replaced by a more persona-appropriate one, and the shield to be replaced by a new 28" round & returned to war duty only.

Vladimir wrote:Thanks. Its primary purpose is to keep the slit in the maille from gapping too wide.
Because simply slitting out a column of links doesn't get the job done. You can make the inverted-V gap into a slit by adding right triangles to either side of the slit, hypotenuses to center. Euro 4-1 weave insists on a tapering hang; making it wider at the bottom of that sector compensates. After all, all period art shows not an A-frame gap, but a slit.

seriously, Duncan? What do you need to know? If I can't tell you, Klaus The Other Red can.
I like to start with knowing how to make expansions.

Thank you, Sir! I'm glad you got to see it with the red brat, which I leave off on the war field; I'm still hoping somebody (maybe Ursus) got pictures at the tourney.

That medallion looks like Sir Malachi's shield.

Meinhard wrote:John, how do you like those gauntlets?
I like them, for the price they were a steal and with the light sparring gloves in them I didn't have to mess with gluing foam inside which I loved. my only complaint is the cuff is a little narrow and could use more flair to it, I'll be cutting it off and adding a splinted cuff to it to match my kit and hopefully get some better mobility out of them.
