Clamshell vs. Bifurcated Gauntlets

Post by Caius705 »

I'm looking at buying spring steel gauntlets, with an eye towards moving into ACL/BotN style fighting. I've already picked a supplier. What I'm trying to determine is style.

Even though I'll be using a late 14th kit, I'm looking into clamshells for the protection. I'm also considering bifurcated gauntlets, such as the ones shown here

Does anyone have any experience with these? Do they compromise well between protection and dexterity?
