Did they ever use atlatls in medieval or dark age battles??

To my knowledge, atlatls were not used in Europe since prehistory. They were used by people in contact with Europe during the renaissance, such as the Aztecs, so it is not impossible for a late-period european to own one. Merely very unlikely. Image

Somehow, I can't imagine a conquistador doing any more with one of those than hanging it on his wall.
...and even that seems less than likely -- it feels to me like the only thing they found to be value is the gold -- and didn't even keep it as art - but rather melted it down for cash.

I know they used them in the 13th warrior..
if anyone wants more pics I can take some pictures of mine.. but I got it from thunderbird atlatl so there's prolly pics of the same kind on their site.. yes, they are the ones who sell them at Pennsic
