Collapsible crossbow

Their is this pistol size crossbow i saw on a TV show called the Relic Hunter ware the main character has it and is about the size of your hand about 2in x 6in x 2in it is self contanied in the handel and when the handel folds down the bow portion stays locked in place till she pulls the trigger the show referres to its era being Persian during the 12 century if any one has any information about a bow like this please
let me know

It seems that the general concensus is that this is probably made up for the show.
