A modest proposal:
While on chat Saturday evening (my first time), Broadway popped in. While he was there, the discussion of the amount of bandwidth spent on the Off-Topics and Recreation of Medieval Combat threads came up. It was implied that many of the discussions on the abovementioned boards were at the expense of the discussion of Arms and Armour. This brought up the following question:
Has the Armour Archive lost its focus?
There is much more time spent discussing current events issues---religious disagreements, disagreement with the government, even disagreement with SCA rules---than how to improve one’s kit. And while I think this is a sad commentary, it sometimes makes me question the relevance of the board.
I remember when a new armour technique was discussed avidly. I only wish it were now discussed as avidly as the “Christians/Pagans are evilâ€

Mr.Coleman,
As a long time reader/infrequent poster I can appreciate your observation. The archive still kicks out fantastic answers and help to newbies of the SCA and Novice armourers alike. It is in this vein that I hope the archive never goes kaput. Most topic starters are concise with a thread title and if a reader wishes to engage in posts not directly related to improving arms/armor then so be it. If 1 in 100 topics were armor related I'd still surf by and read them. The insight and advice offered by yourself, Gundo, Chef, Rev.George and Eric Schmidt to name a few are what keep me coming back.
I equate the archive like direct TV: hundreds of channels...but I only watch a few.
I submit that purists such as yourself may look for another Avenue for give and take discussions but I hope you never leave outright.
Many times helped by the wealth of info here,
