Wow! Looks like there is a market for SCA weapons

Take a look at this Ebay auction. 3 old rattan weapons started at $14ish and it's up to over $50 already. Item # 1721896077

Actually, I'm surprised that some armourer hasn't started offering ready-to-fight weapons for the SCA. It would be convenient.

Lucas?

I actually thought about doing a weapons merchant thing at an event to see how it would do.
Something like making 4 or 5 of each weapon type and putting them out at like $15 for a sword,$5 per dagger, $50 for a Fiberglass Pike, and some curved and edged wood Heaters for say $20.
Never got around to it though.

Christ... Some NewB has too much money and not enough patience, that's what THAT is!

But seriously, when I was active SCA, I would have paid good money for ready-made weapons.

I'm wayyyyy to picky about my sticks.
I'd never buy off the rack.

I'd buy ready-made SCA swords...

IF they could get the length and balance exactly right and shave the handle exactly the way I like it.

It would save me a whole lot of time replacing weapons.. but I dont see it happening.

Yeah, I moved to Trimaris from Calontir, and these guys down here use the short, I mean short stick like 26",, and I am use to 36"..

And to do any off the racks, you'd have to have a good supply of basket hilts as a lot of people prefer baskets over gauntlets.

If I had the time, allI would make would be cheap gauntlets, cause I can never keep enough of them in stock,,,

Those are my auction -I sold the two rattan weapons (a sword and an axe) for $250.00 and an identical set for $150.00 the next week. I sold the three weapons (a 24" mace, a 32" mace and a 32" sword) for $51.00 and a 4' battle axe for $54.00

So the prices are going down, but' I'm still making money off of my old collection. I never thought they would go so high -I figured a few newbies would pay maybe $15 to $20 for them just because they didn’t know how to make weapons yet, or where to buy rattan.

I have since started adding rattan weapons to my merchant business.
