I have done very little research on this so far, this was just a brainstorm thing. But what I found was a website saying they were used in 16th-17th century. Does anyone know that they were used earlier than that?
I have in mind a design for one for SCA Combat, but I want to see if they were used in my period before I do it. Thanks!

I've been able to trace variants of the military fork back as far as the middle of the 12th century. Have a look at the first and fourth pictures
here.
They appear to be a weapon of the licentious soldiery rather than the knightly class, but they were certainly used.
