Mace haft reinforcement

I slid a golf tube over the haft of my mace toprevent it from getting all banged up. It looks really nice and seems to be holding up well. Im going to run it by my Kingdom EM on sunday but what do you guys think?

should work. Its not a striking surface. So you should be able to do it. althought if it begins to show wear ie little bits sticking out repalce it.
I use leather on mine about a 4 ounce use contact cement or spray adheasive to hold it on. works well and has the nice look of leather.
