I just noticed that the Plate and Mail is running up against the Known World Squires tourney. I’m thinking about moving the plate and mail times to earlier in the day, even though it will then be wrong in the schedule. Anyone have any thoughts on this? I’ve noticed the large number of knights and squires who participate in or watch the squires tourney, and I wouldn’t be surprised if many of the folks who have in the past participated in the plate and mail would end up having to make an unpleasant choice.

Are they near each other (i.e. Red list v. White list?) If so, just have a handfull of "pseudo-heralds/marshals" that will monitor both lists and have those who are in both mention it at the list table. Then you'll have a list of names those designated "watchers" can relay the info to the other list and let the fighter know they are up "next door".

That is a good idea, and if the battle field layout is similar to past years they will be quite close, but I’d hesitate to do if for a couple of reasons.

First, while my lists are fairly simple, I’ve been told the Squire tourney can be quite a challenge to administer (as any large double elim combat can be, plus you are just dealing with knights and squires and I can only the imagine the chaos Also I know that many folks want to put 100% into one particular combat, and might not be comfortable with splitting their attention.

The squire's tourney usually has over 100 participants and many vieweres. It is also usually run in a "Speed Tourney" Fashion which usually doesn't allow for much time at all between rounds, certainly not enough time to run off to another whole tourney area.

I have also noticed in the past that the Best of the Best and the Pas run at the same time- which I find to be a pain, because in different ways they both exemplify the best of what we are doing, but only allow for time to be a part of one.

The hard part is the prime days are so packed with fun things to do that something often has to overlap. I must drive the coordnator nuts because I have something going on every day and a whole list of "do not conflict" Plus I take over a list field. I've considered only running in the morning or evening, but then you run into courts, dinners, socializing.

The other challenge you run into is a "publishing" deadline. I wouldn't mind being the last to schedule, and work around everyone else, but so many folks wait until the last moment as well, that other then the major battles and the Lost Boys battle, I often don't know what I'm working against.

Well that definetly puts me in a bind, two of the tourneys that I most want to participate in. And I am really committed to the Squire's tourney.
