Six-Man Teams at Tourney of the Foxes

Anybody else going to the Tourney of the Foxes? (Near Chattanooga, weekend of August 28. Here's the flyer.)

Their tourney consists of six-man teams. I'm going by myself, and figured to try and land a spot on an incomplete team; otherwise I'll have made a trip for nothing. If anybody is planning on making that event, and needs a sixth guy, look me up. I'd be most useful with either a polearm (or spear if it's allowed) or with two sticks for rapid flanking.

I'm looking forward to it; haven't been to an event since April.

I'll be there.

There are usually a couple of pickup teams. So you shouldn't have a problem finding a team.

And yes, spears are allowed.

Just bumping this because the event is this weekend, and I'm leaving tomorrow. Just a two-hour drive. Hope the weather is okay.

If anybody else here is going, this may be your chance to tear me a new one!

And I am in the small one in the White Mountain lamellar rig (red pteruges) over a red tunic and ocular helm. Shield has lilies and sword heraldry.

Fun! Joined together with a guy from California, a guy from Texas and two newbies. They got authorized just before the tourney, and then gave a very good account of themselves. (We were the team called "The Burgundians".)

Okay, now that I look at the pictures, I can see my face really does get red when I fight in the heat. No wonder people were asking me if I was okay!

No prob, this guy takes some sweet pictures, and I don't mind if you missed Foxes, just don't miss MGT. :)

Ulrich -- I'm on the left in this picture

and sitting my fat ass on the ground, with a very red face, in this picture.

Got to do something to spruce up my kit; felt shamed by all the really nice armour I saw on the field.

Drachus- The guy in the sallet is Sir Gunther Van Der Aachen. If you play SCA he is general of the Meridian Army. Mostly he wears a placart or kidney belt.

Thanks, Knoch! It was an honor teaming up with you; just sorry I crapped out before the large-scale melee stuff. I thought our two guys who authorized that day did very well.

So you're in Thor's Mountain? Guess I'll see you at Silver Hammer!

Wasn't Gunther in da Army? Rangers? Airborn??

His legs do look great... except for da nekked shins :P

i hate nekked shins wonder, what size greaves he wears i might have an old set lying around.

Sir Gunther has a pair of greaves, (From my old Late period rig). He just doesn't normally break them out for Melee's.

I'm betting he'll have them on for Grand Tourney though.

SWEET

His legs look too good to mess em up with nekked shins.

AFAIK i'm gonna be there at MGT. Got banners and all kinds of crap almost finished. Should be done with that.

Don't think i can get my new cuiesses done in time though :(

Maybe all the spif looking stuff will make up for my expected crappy fighting.

Hey Knoch, This is Sceotan , the short new guy you talked to in the red lenin tunic. I just wanted to shout to you man and say thanks for the advice you gave. You were one of many that made my first true SCA event have a really welcome feel. If more people could be like a lot of the guys I met at foxes, the SCA would have no problem recruting new blood, these guys were great to be around and very helpful.

Sceotan.
