Finished my shields

I finally got my shields painted from the old Haus design to the new shield livery that combines Northern Army (white pointed cross and white 'embattled border on black field) and VDK House badges.

The rawhide did not workout for me.
The first batch was left in the water too long and started to get putrid.
The second batch was too thin and the core of the dog chews were some kind of marrow so there wasn;t enought to do the job.
Next time I buy 1/2 a hide.

I ended up using some leather I had lying around instead.
Thought I'd share em. They look pretty cool IMHO.

Note that they have the Haus motto ("Truth, Justice, Faith") across the bottom.

One of my winter projects will be to fix/paint a kyte that I just inherited as a backup for the house and practice loaner (same design).

I love fighting the Atlantians - - they hit hard and are extremely courtious.

Nice sheilds. Too bad the Rawhide didn't work out for you.

question:
what brand chew toy did you buy?

The ones I used were are BIG 12+inch long ones that are knotted on both ends. I think I got a 4 pack for $19. I got really good results from them.

The ones I let go bad in the water were these cheepie "dollar store" type.
They were pretty good.

The 2nd buy was Hartz brand. They were a rawhide shell over this "marrowish" solid piece that looked like it was processed from hooves. Very dissapointing.
