In the worship and in the name of God, with prayers to Saint Raphael the Archangel to guard me, and with the support of Their Excellencies, Marcellus and Belphoebe. I, Kevin of Thornbury, bearer of arms by Letters Patent, champion of the Barony of Ponte Alto require all those who enjoy this same burden for their own barony to meet me in arms at Challenge of the Heart in the Barony of Dun Carraig in the Kingdom of Atlantia on the 25th of June xl. Between us shall we accomplish these deeds of arms before the Rose of Atlantia, the gracious and patient Queen Denise Duvalier. I ask Her to find favor on these articles here signed.

The first article is that we between us shall be armed in noble fashion, bearing a token of the favor of our lady baronesses.

The second article is that we should essay combat a plaisance upon the open field with broadsword and buckler, until one of us should land five counted blows upon the other.

The third article that I, Kevin of Thornbury, will provide two bucklers of equal worth, that my opponent may choose of the same.

The fourth article is that whosoever in God’s Grace has the better of the other shall have of the other his ransom of some worthy gift to bear to his baroness.

Done by my hand, this 9th day of May xl on the feast day of St. Pachomius.

Master Kevin,

I do not live in a Barony, but in the Province of Tree-Girt-Sea. If it meet with your wishes I would be honored to meet with you in joyous combat this Pennsic, and represent the Province in which I dwell upon the field. I believe that combat to five blows struck fought with buckler and sword will suffice to keep us engaged and be most enjoyable. If this arrangement is with your satisfaction, let us arrange a time and date upon which to meet.

I fight for the honor of my Lady, Helena Lucchese, and will do her Justice upon the field.

I believe that Sir Bryce will speak for my credentials.

Master Kevin,

Let these words find you in good health and with joyous spirit. I had the pleasure of crossing swords with you at this past Crown Tourney of Atlantia. After Much thought on the subject I did decide not to thrust at you during our combat I wanted a fair and just fight and you delivered. I am not the Champion for my Barony and thus if our Champion Cannot attend I would gladly take up your challenge. I must ask that the landed blows be lowered to a single blow since I would like to be physically able to drive back home.

[So much for phpBB2 notifying me of replies to this topic.]

Your Grace,

Your credentials are well known to me and my house. You do me and my barony honor by your reply. I recall meeting you long ago, when you were in the finals of Atlantian Crown Tournament against Duke Michael of Bedford. At the time, I was squire to Count Thorbrandr Olafsson, who also fell to Duke Michael that day.

I find your proposal to be most worthy, and will gladly meet you upon the field at Pennsic. My lady, Maestra Giuliana Salviati and I will arrive at Pennsic on the 12th of August. Shall we meet some time that first weekend, before the rush of the battles is upon us?

Good my lord Christian, I do indeed recall crossing swords with you on that day. Know that the ladies of my household were well impressed and spoke highly of your chivalry that day, in offering to eschew your sword points, as my own blade had edge, but was blunt.

Your offer to champion is well made; I only require that you bear a token from your baroness that you are acceptable to her in this matter. Also, that you are prepared to honor my baroness as I am prepared to honor yours depending upon the outcome.

I have heard your offer to fight to the first telling strike, and if it is pleasing to Her Royal Majesty, who will be in attendance at Challenge of the Heart, then I shall grant this request to amend my articles.

I look forward to completing this deed of arms with you.

Let this deed be done.

I, shall upon the day seek council from our Baroness of Sacred Stone. Thus shall her Champion not be able to travel the noble lands of this Kingdom I shall take up my harness and steed and travel to answer your call. I shall bring ransom for my losses, and gift your noble Baroness. Shall I be the only one who will answer this call then I shall openly give to you a fair bout for every Barony which is not present at this spectacle. Thus fulfilling my duties as a Lord of this Kigndom and a Subject of His Grace Duke Olaf Askoldssonn.

I also send words to your Lady and those Ladies of thy House. I shall thank them for their kind words of my acts and know that I always seek the good and fair fight when the opponent is just and righteous.

If Her Majesty deems it proper and just for the bouts to continue to three landed blows I must comply. Being a servant to Her and His Majesty as a Guard is an Honor to uphold in my gallery of Memories.

Done this Day.

Unto Master Kevin of Thornberry, do I, Lord Dante di Lucio della Luna, Champion of the Barony of Hawkwood, send most heartfelt greetings,

It is with much sadness that I must inform you that I will not be able to attend Challenge of the Heart in the Barony of Dun Carraig in the Kingdom of Atlantia on the 25th of June xl. I have prior commitments to spend that time with my family.

I have discussed the matter of your challenge with Her Exellency of Hawkwood, and she has agreed to allow me to find a replacement to represent the Barony of Hawkwood.

I did not have to search long, as standing next to me at the time was Lord Christian Thomas of York. He graciously offered to represent the Barony of Hawkwood, and bear our colors and bear our gifts to your Baroness.

I did learn that Lord Christian Thomas of York is representing all of the Southern Baronies of the Kingdom of Atlantia, for your challenge, and this did most impress me.

I wish you all the best, in your endeavor, and I am truly sorry that I will not be able to attend to your challenge.

Godspeed to you and yours,

Lord Dante di Lucio della Luna
Squire to Sir Dagonet de Marlowe
Armoured Champion of Hawkwood

Lord Dante, greetings. I too am saddened that other matters keep you from Challenge of the Heart this weekend.

Your chosen champion, Lord Chirstian Thomas of York, has sent correspondence to me that events have unfolded at his home as well, and he will not be in attendance.

I pray that some of my brothers in arms from the southern reaches of our fair kingdom might take up this challenge with me, bearing a token from his baroness, or at the least, a letter of recommendation from his baroness that may be read to the gallery by my herald.
