It was tobacco, now its just a hay field. Ankles and heat were most of the problems that day. But with 1043 people on site it could potentially become a very good site.

I see now. Didnt know what was the original crop there. Yes, just in the year I have been back, the Centre has taken some major leaps in improving itself. Last year, the sulfur water was terrible and there was like 2 showers in each bathroom. With the usage of the portable toliets, and the new shower house, its getting much better. Add to that the city water. Now it needs to expand the kitchen area and eventually a larger feast hall I would suspect, but its a doable site, and the people that run it are first rate to work with.

Looking forward to the fall and seeing you all on the fields of battle.

WTF! Did anyone note the excessive ammount of exposed Underarmor being worn at this event?(at least 30% of the fighters it seemed) Looked more like people getting ready for the tour de france than a melee.

At least a linen tunic would cover those beer bellies

funny. the underarmor folks didnt stay on the field any longer than the others there.

I admit to being one to wear the underarmor saturday, though it's the cheap variety from wal-mart, as I can't afford the expensive kind. However, I try to hide it as best I can when in full gear so it can not be seen. I even matched the color of the underarmor to the color of my tabard so that should it come visible somehow, it would be nearly indistinguishable. Regardless, if I offended anyone with the inadequacy of my kit, I apologize.

My good Sir,

With the amount of plastic I saw this past weekend, your Underarmor Couldnt POSSIBLY offend. If Drachus says otherwise, I will just have to challange him with long wet noodles at a later date

People can wear whatever they want if its covered, they can wear womens lingerie for all I care, but there were a LOT of people wearing this stuff exposed. I can see plastic armor for whatever reason floats someones boat, cost, cant work metal or leather, whatever, at least its functional. but come on UNDERARMOR?! What is this, the Spandex Legion?

There are better, less expensive, PERIOD alternatives!!! Linen shirt! Hell even a linen T-tunic would be a lot better. Just cut apart a haines t shirt, trace the seams, make the sleeves longer, and sew the linen pieces together. If its so hot that this stuff needs to be worn exposed, perhaps a medieval reinactment as a hobby needs to be rethought

Oh it has and will be rethought for many more years to come. Oddly its the plastic and poorly done aluminum that sticks out to me. Underarmor just doesnt offend me that much--but then again I am still marveling that there are no longer armys of walking carpets  .

My linen shirt was soaked through before the second field battle!
I honestly did not notice the underarnour/exposed plastic etc.
Maybe its because once again Shadow Legion switched sides and fought against her home kingdom (at HRM request) to even the sides out and I was a little busy trying to wipe out my kinfolk while staying alive. Everywhere I looked was a Meridian squire grinning at he/she ran at me. Target rich envrioment and I did well that day. Great fighting!

I agree that fighting late evening would have been sooo much better. The heat was pretty brutal. I think the under armor helps, but when it's that hot everyone is going to suffer. Still it was some good fighting. Thankfully the evening were nice and cool and I didn't wake up all sweaty.

I agree the site has some good potential but needs some work.

The ground was pretty rough. Not to mention all the hard, sharp pungi steak twigs sticking up all over.

Shadow Legion did a great grill dinner, hats off to their hospitality as usual. Was nice meeting you Lachlan.

Tim,

You were wearing linen, weren't you? Did the underarmor help? You didn't look like you were very uncomfortable in the heat.

Yes I was wearing a Linen Cotte, with the underarmor under it insttead of a St Louis Shirt. Yeah I think it did help. I know that the compression shorts I had on helped me from having one hell of a heat rash. 8)
