Hear ye, Lords, Knights, squires, and noble men at arms. We make known to you a very great deed of arms to be done at the Cumber’s land in the Kingdom of Meridies. All those nobles of coat armour and bearing harness of fine steel are invited to come Saturday, the Twenty fifth day of June at the hour of noon to the field where the Border Raids are to be held.

From that place the good men of the Company of St. Boniface will meet all those that would challenge them and a Tree shall be placed there upon which challenges can be made. There will also be a great show of Helms before the combat and a gallery will be set aside for the noble and gentle ladies where they will decide who among these men shall be the Knight, squire, or noble of honor for that day.

After all personal challenges are settled in honorable combat those parfait ladies of the gallery will be asked what deeds of arms they wish to see preformed and they shall direct which nobles will fight, in what manner, and with what weapons they will take into the field.

At the end of the combat the Company of St. Boniface will name which of the venans they believe to be the most puissant and the Ladies will name the noble they believe showed the most honor nobility and chivalry upon the field that day.

Written this twenty sixth day of May by the hand of Lord Brennus Barbatus CAS, Squire to Syr Wulfhere Mannteufel and acting as herald for the Company of St Boniface in this matter of Armes.



Please as a courtesy bring no visible plastic or obvious mundanities onto the field if you wish to participate in this affair of arms. Thank you and may all that participate find much honor for themselves and their ladies that day.

Let our ears be pleased. Thus shall we gather our noble Company of the Phoenix making haste to polish our harness, gather our troops, and prepare to make march to the Kingdom of Meridies to answer such a call. Shall our brother's and cousin's being in good health be willing we shall if all is well in our lands to travel to meet the Company of St. Boniface in combat a la plaissance.

During my travels I have met such a Company of St. Boniface and in spirit of the Tourney of St. Inglevert's I did but slay a good boar and cooked over flame to feed these fine men. Out of largess a Bec d Corbin was gifted to me by His Excellency Viscount Karl Helweg.

My lady and I shall be traveling to your fair kingdom to bear arms with our loved ones there. I will most definitely attend this Passage of Arms, however as a spectator only, as my gear, which may be good enough in general, is not good enough in mine own mind yet for such a spectacular event. Good fortune to you and yours in this Passage of Arms.

I think cooking isn't the appropriate term. I think we will be pleasantly surprised by the weather as this has been a nice mild spring. Also since this is not HELL otherwise known as Ft Knox we may actually have a nice breeze. Those of us who have gotten used to South Georgia humidity will be nice and fresh

Yes it is an SCA event.

Could you please post armor and weapons requirements for your Pas?
A few of the companions of The Company of Saint Jude will be there and we would like to stand as venans it we can pass muster.

I'll separate this into preferences and requirments

We prefer

closed face helms
No Basket hilts
14th and 15th century harness

We require

No visible plastic
A bit better than an "Attempt" at pre 17th century Harness
Metal body armour or documentable body armor

Other than that we are trying to start at a level more people can play at and work up. Some of us tenans will have very good harness some will be just barely passing muster.

Do your best and try to be as period in thought, manner, and Harness as you can.

For this Passage that is all I ask.

To the best of our ability to provide them but bring what weapons you can.

Are the passes defined yet?
(what will the fights be?)

Each fight will be challenges either challenges offerred by the venans or challenges the ladies desire to see. Basically the venans are to approach the shield tree strike the shield of the person they wish to challenge and the weapons they wish to use. After the individual challenges the Ladies will be asked who they would like to see fight. They will then basically create challenges between the fighters present.

Any type of theme to this PA?

Polearm is one of the possible weapon selections. While matched weapons are prefered, they are by no means required. So yes if its a SCA legal head bring it

Well duh the armour stuff hurts without it.

We actually knocked the handel off of Eric's Buckler today, gotta fix it.


Pavillion is a bit iffy, it's huge and takes a good while to set up. We'll see,

i don't really have the time to do anything grandiose for this pas. I plan on just showing up and playing.

Well lets see,

I am about 60% done with the tree of Charlemange. We need a barrier--I think Brennus is bring one, but never hurts to have extras. Sir Stuart has the boundry marker poles, Ill bring rope. Need chairs for the ladies and a table. I have refresments for the ladies. Brennus has a few gifts I believe, and Karl is bringing more. Erics bring matched polearms.

Anything else?

Field Pennons for decorations will be nice. And LOTS of Ice--its gunna be hot (92 last I looked)

Not horriffic ,

it needs work but it has potential. Eventually i think it'll be a good site.

I've been to several events there and there were none of the site problems people complained of this time.

We were fighting on a furrowed cornfield, i'm thankful there were no broken ankles. And the usual "hey lets fight when it's the hottest it can possibly be" scheduling. Take a hint from Lilies people, it's light until 8:00 no reason to be fighting in the heat of the day.

thew sit was not bad it has a lot of hope there. Good size not a lot of Light polution from any near by city. The only realy bad thing was the Heat and humidity. these things cant be worked out. I shure hop Company of St. Boniface will try to reschedual the PA for anotehr time. I still am looking forward to it.

Im sure we will try another one in the fall. Yes the day was blast furnace in heat. The field as Murdock said is very uneven. Old corn field or maybe cotton. Lots of furrows. Hard as concrete. They have showers now which is good. And city water. The sites moving in the right direction, just needs time and funds. Fighting should be from 6-10am and from 5 to 8/9. The middle of the day was unreal.

I got to eat some good food My Lady and I brought refreshments for 30-40 people. So..... Ah well.

That site was definitely not Fort Knox, but it didn't seem to bad. Lots of potential. Though the tick thing had me freaked out. The heat was disappointing. People quit fighting after the first few field battles it was so hot. I really wanted to see the Pas, but considering the circumstances, I don't blame them for postponing it.

I managed to get the first field battles in, then armored down to do some shopping with my lady and see the Pas, then armored back up for the bridge battles, which I had a blast in, then worked on my quest some with some awesome knights.

All in all a good day.

I agree with your time slot choices but trying to get my knight and house sibs out to fight at 6 am ???? I already have wake up duty for everyone but getting them up at 5 am to armour up would probably get me pelted with rocks. So lets see, Shadow Legion would be represented on the field by ...oh...me.
The site itself does have lots of potential.
